Default The House Without a Christmas Tree

Anybody else remember this TV movie done on videotape with Jason Robards, Mildred Natwick and Lisa Lucas? Early 70s. So glad it's on DVD and wish CBS would put the other Addie Mills TV movies on DVD too--there was a Thanksgiving one (retitled The Holiday Treasure for VHS), an Easter one and a Valentine's Day one. It's one of my favorite Christmas movies to watch.

Posted this here so it would get maximum exposure, but if it needs to be moved to the chit chat movie thread, so be it

I remembered the Thanksgiving/Christmas movies. I even bought The House Without A Christmas Tree. I will always remember the scene where the dad says he will get a tree if his daughter drinks a glass of water (in one gulp), she does and he reneges

Yea that part, he plays a very cruel trick on her to win the bet. It was after this movie I think Jason was involved in a wreck or something that messed up his upper lip, so afterwards, he always wore a mustache in his roles.

I love how the scenes end and begin with construction paper cutouts of the scenes that transition from the action to the paper and vice versa.

The girl who plays Addie's best friend was Alexa Kenin, who would go on to a nice career that was sadly ended when she was murdered in the '80s.

I remember that movie. I thought that it was so mean that Addie's dad wouldn't let her have a Christmas Tree.

I've never heard of it, but it sounds good. I'll have to check it out.

I absolutley love those movies and remember watching them originally...Yes all four need to be on DVD.....at least 3 were officially released on VHS....I was very fortunate to get the rare Valentine special titled "Addie & The King Of Hearts" the last produced in 1976, it was an hour long and featured a story about Addie's crush on her teacher and her dealing with her father dating a woman played by Diane Ladd.
