WKRP's "Turkeys Away" is and always will be a classic. I LOVE IT!! Other classics - "An American Family" (1974) and "Over the River and Through the Woods" (1975) of The Bob Newhart Show!!

I liked the ELR Thanksgiving episodes a lot. My fav. being the very first one where Debra cooks the fish instead of the turkey. Who could forget Uncle Mel???

Mel: Fred and Bishop are parking their car outside.
Debra: Wait, Fred and Bishop?
Mel: They're friends of mine. We're not gay!

The Cheers episode when they had the food fight at Thanksgiving. They're dressed like the Pilgrims. Diane wanted to have a proper Dinner, then she gets hit with food. She flings some mashed potatoes at Sam; she says, "Sam Malone...kiss your butt goodbye." The food fight starts.

Yes, the Bewitched episode is very sweet, too. I loved the Pilgrim costumes. The tofu turkey episode of Everybody Loves Raymond was funny, too.

WKRP - "Turkeys Away" ranks right up there at the top. That's one episode that makes me laugh no matter how many times I watch it.

to the person who mentioned the Brad Pitt FRIENDS..it was entitled TOW the Rumor. It was from Season 8...one of the best.

oh and I almost forgot Will and Grace's Thanksgiving eps when Will came out in an eighties flashback "Lows in the Mid Eighties." and also when Will and the gang met his lover Vince's parents. Little notes about this episode Robert Costanzo who played Vince's dad played Joey's dad on FRIENDS and Joey and his mother was played by the same actress who played his mistress "Ronnie" the pet stuffer. also featured was Jamie Lyn Sigler from the Sopranos as Vince's sister Ro.

and there was one episode of the late Joey series where Joey's sis takes over Thanksgiving and makes everyone miserable

All of the Thanksgiving Episodes on Dr. Quinn are my favorites.

Season 2 had "Giving Thanks" it was a really nice episode. Sully and Michaela had officially told each other "I love you". It was sweet. They had a drought and when they were serving Thanksgiving dinner it started to rain and everyone started dancing in the rain.

Season 3 had "Thanksgiving" and that is when Sully and Michaela had to go on a trip and on the way they ran into Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. They almost died because there were some Indians holding them hostage in an abandoned building that used to be where the stagecoach let people off. While there, Johnny sang a song.
When they got back to Colorado Springs, the kids had a dinner waiting on them.

Season 4 had "One Touch of Nature". It was a great episode because Michaela found out she was pregnant. Through the entire episode, she was worried she couldn't concieve a baby, and it turns out she was pregnant already. They had some good scenes with Michaela and Sully talking and "having fun trying" to have a baby. I love the way it ended.

Season 5 had "The Tempest". A really bad storm was coming to Colorado Springs and all Michaela was worried about was making a good Thanksgiving dinner. It turns out that the storm prevented them from even having a dinner because she and Katie were trapped in the homestead by themselves while Brian and Sully had to wait it out before they could go home. It was a great episode. I loved the way Michaela comforted Katie when she was scared of the storm. It was so sweet to see the concern she had for her baby daughter.

I don't know about Season 6 yet. I will post it once I have seen that episode.

I loved the Thanksgiving episode in the first season of The Fresh Prince. Vivian has all the kids cook the dinner and turns out to be a disaster. It was so funny.

I loved some of the Thanksgiving episodes on The Cosby Show. In the first season little Rudy was so cute when she was thanking everyone, even her teddy bear. It was adorable. Theo was going to be able to carve the turkey and Cliff kept giving him a hard time about it. It was so funny.
I also like the episode when Clair keeps sending Cliff out in the bad weather to get ingredients for the Thanksgiving dinner. After he gets done and begins to take off all his wet stuff, the sun comes out. It was hilarious. Poor Cliff.

I will post more later.

WKRP "Turkeys Away" is tough to top! The story Johnny tells about Carlson sending blonde wigs to earthquake victims cracks me up. And of course, "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!"

I agree about the Bob Newhart ep, too. Bob, Jerry, Howard and Mr. Carlin all drunk together...what more can I say?

I can't believe no one's mentioned "Mission Control" from Murphy Brown, when the gang spends the day volunteering to feed the homeless. The scene where Miles comes in with the turkeys (who are very much alive!) is priceless!
