Default Saddest Moments In Sports

All Time- maybe it was a retirement of a great or favorite player of yours, maybe it was a personal, special story or a feel good story of a player you watched when he/she was in college or early on in their professional career. Maybe it was a game, or a death of a legend or star you enjoyed watching and had respect for. Saddest moments all time in sports for you and overall that you can think of?

I can say Michael Jordan's OFFICIAL last game, I was choked up a little bit. It was special and it was in Philly- at the First Union Center vs. the Sixers. Sixers won and it was MJ's last game ever, even if it wasn't on a Bulls team.

The death of Reggie White- the Minister of Defense & the last game at the Vet (the Phillies game)...so special yet so sad and memorable...

Jordan's last game was a tear jerker for me too. Another one was when Manu Ginobili went down at the 2008 Olympics. Hopefully he will be back before the end of this month.

Last February's Super Bowl. The Patriots blew their shot at a perfect 19-0 season.

The breaking down of Barbaro a couple of years ago and then having to be put down after nearly fully recovering. That broke my heart and still does.

Anytime a beautiful racehorse breaks down it breaks my heart. For that, I no longer can watch horseracing.

When the 1930's great hockey player Howie Morentz died after a hard body check in 1937, his broken leg infected and he died of complications from pneumonia!

I agree, when it comes to Cleveland, we're the saddest sports city ever!

Oh, yeah?

You want a sad sports city, take a trip down to Buffalo.

Four straight Super Bowl losses, and the Sabres ripping the hearts out of their fans year after year in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

All the horse jumping deaths. I believe there's been over 10 in the last year. This really saddens me, especially since most of the riders are so young.

what about the Kevin Everett incident? That was REALLY SAD and everybody thought he wouldn't be able to walk again, and probably worst. He ended up getting better and doing great recovery wise but I think it still counts as a sad moment, the actual hit/play and how significant it was to his body and how it took a toll for the worst.
