Red face Drinking bottled water that has been left in your car can cause CANCER?!

This was e-mailed to me by a friend. Just wanted to know what everyone thinks about this?

----------------

This is how Sheryl Crow got breast cancer. She was on
the Ellen show and said this same exact thing. This has been
identified as the most common cause of the high levels in breast
cancer, especially in Australia .

A friend whose mother was recently diagnosed with
breast cancer and the Doctor told her: women should not drink bottled
water that has been left in a car.

The doctor said that the heat and the plastic of the
bottle have certain chemicals that can lead to breast cancer . So
please be careful and do not drink bottled water that has been left
in a car, and, pass this on to all the women in your life. ; This
information is the kind we need to know and be aware and just might
save us! The heat causes toxins from the plastic to leak into the
water and they have found these toxins in breast tissue. Use a stain
less steel Canteen or a glass bottle when you can!

Yeah I actually believe this. The heat can destroy or mess up anything, so watch out. My Dad has done this all the time.

Hope I don't get breast cancer.

I don't think men can get breast cancer. You never know maybe they can.

nonsense, most plastic bottles have a percentage of recycled material in them that is safely melted into the mix http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/petbottles.asp

oh, and men certainly can get breast cancer.

Yes - men definitely can get breast cancer. And its usually even more deadly on men than women.

RobyRob's right - the heating of a water bottle seems to be false. They warn you more about reusing them (which I've now stopped doing).

Besides, they're all bad for the environment. I switched to a reusable container (porcelain lined - stainless steel and aluminum aren't safe).

Basically it's a pain the butt to keep hydrated these days....

Breast cancer in men is rare but as already stated in can happen. I believe it was a contributing factor in the death of TPIR announcer Rod Roddy.

if you hear something weird like that in an e-mail forward from some unverified source rather than something more reliable like a news article, there's a 99.9% chance it's made up.

I quit drinking from plastic bottles a couple of years ago. I drink from a glass or a stainless steel container, like a canteen. I've read too many negative things on plastic water bottles. It just makes me feel better.

I don't bother with plastic water bottles either. They're bad for the environment. I don't believe they cause cancer though.

haha, exactly. people love starting these forwards just for the sake of watching everyone freak out over something that isn't real. it's sad that it always works.

besides, don't you think there would have been a huge ass lawsuit and product recall if these water bottles were KILLING PEOPLE? nope, just some illegitimate email with a friendly warning. come on people.

Yeah, I don't believe it. Good thing though, because I down water from water bottles like it's my job. At college, it's just the most convenient way. I'm not getting my water from the nasty bathroom sinks, thanks. Besides, after awhile you get spoiled and tap water just isn't as good...although my home city is known for having some of the best drinking water in the country.

Just another bout of paranoia. EVERYTHING causes cancer these days. A/C adaptor cords, sattelite and phone microwave signals, water bottles, meat, Oreo cookies, tinfoil hats...
