I see he retired in 1987

Yeah it was only for 85 season and he ended his career in Tampa Bay

YouTube used to have one like that, then it was taken down. Fortunately, I managed to save it to a CD; I still look at it a lot.

Go to page 2 of the clips. There is an "NFL Today" halftime report, albeit not with Irv and Jimmy-- it's Brent Musburger and Dick Vermeil. There are also a couple of NFL gamebreaks from 1987, presented the way you and I remember them.

I already have tons of NFL games on CBS with the NFL today pregame show and post game show and halftime that I watch sometimes. I think the best NFL today era was from 1986-89 and then fizzled in 1990 when they got rid of Brent Musburger

I didn't know that-- I think it's really neat for you to be able to relive all those memories whenever you want to. I don't think that I taped any of the Musburger run or the games from that era. Today's "NFL on CBS" and "NFL Today" are okay, but not quite as up to snuff as the Musburger era that you and I remember.

Also, I agree that it was a shame that the NFL Network edited off the gamebreaks and halftime from that 1985 game. They did, however, show several other artifacts from that era, including an actual on-screen promo for the next week's doubleheader coverage, several score tickers at the bottom of the screen, and a promo for the halftime report with Brent Musburger, Irv Cross, and Dan Dierdorf. This game is not part of the recent Bears 1985 classic games DVD release from Warner Bros., but if it were, it would probably have been edited just like it was on the NFL Network.

Yeah that was the best time to be a NFL fan, I was always glued to the tube on the pregame show and the post game show. And even as a 10 year without cable, I used to listen to the Sunday Night Football games on Radio and on Halftime Brent would give his recap of the day in the NFL and I was all excited to hear his voice. I was like-"IT"S BRENT AGAIN!!!!

Solomon, do you get on your network provider, or do you watch any ESPN Classic? I always loved that station. I never get it on my provider but whenever I would rent a house down the beach, most times the provider the TVs had in our house had the station. I like to watch old baseball games, but if it's football, I just tune in for the ESPN/ESPN2 NFL Films segments. Just curious, since we're talking about outside sports channels.

I still have ESPN Classic, and I tune in sometimes (or look at the guide) to see if there's anything good. Most of the time, it isn't, what with all that poker and bowling and all those recent games. Every now and then, there will be a diamond in the rough. Before, it used to be a good source for seeing how the networks presented and identified themselves in the past. Now, as I said earlier, it's mostly poker and bowling and more recent games. It is a shame that ESPN Classic is nowadays a shell of what it once was.
