Duncan scores 23 to lead San Antonio over New York
SAN ANTONIO(AP) Tim Duncan had 23 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists to lead San Antonio to a 92-80 victory over the New York Knicks in the Spurs' first game without the injured Tony Parker. Parker will miss about a month due to a moderate left ankle sprain. The Spurs' other standout guard, Manu Ginobili, has not played this season and isn't scheduled to be back from left ankle surgery until December. Even without the two stars, San Antonio had enough to beat New York. Rookie George Hill started in place of Parker and scored a season-high 12 points. The Spurs (2-4) held a 67-64 lead entering the fourth quarter before they opened the period with 11 straight points as the Knicks missed their first four shots and did not score for the first 5 minutes. Zach Randolph's basket closed the deficit to 78-66, but New York could get no closer than nine the rest of the way. Jamal Crawford scored 28 points to lead New York, which had won three straight. The odd start to the season continued for the Spurs. Not only were they without Parker and Ginobili, they opened the game with iron-man Bowen on the bench. It was the first time in 550 games that he played for the Spurs in which he was on the active roster and didn't start. Bowen checked into the game with 2:22 left in the first quarter. He was replaced in the starting lineup at small forward by Ime Udoka, who got off to an 0-for-8 start from the floor. Bowen finished with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting. The Knicks have a seven-game losing streak against the Spurs. New York is 1-10 overall against San Antonio since its last road win in the series on March 18, 2003. Notes: The Knicks are 0-3 when they score less than 100 points. ... New York was trying to win four straight for the first time since Jan. 8-13, 2006 ... Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has been remembered as a coach who had his tense moments when Parker was starting his career with the Spurs, but Popovich said he'd be more patient with Hill because he played shooting guard in college. "He's learning the (point guard) position at the same time he's running the team,'' Popovich said. "More patience is definitely in order.'' .comhttp://manuginobilifans.proboards107...es&action=post |

Let's see if the Spurs can get it done without their big guns- the finesse shooting guard in Ginobilli, and the provocative, all around point guard in Tony Parker.

I was surprised! Hill really came alive. I hope they can keep this up at least until Manu or Tony comes back.

Yeah, even Sportscenter had a little joke attached to the matchup between the two last night lol. Cause it was a joke to see how shocking it is the Spurs 1-4 up until that point, and the Knicks 4-2, considering how flip flop the records should be and how the two teams have been the past several years LOL. Yeah, is that Grant Hill they got, or who is that? Hopefully other guys can step up though. We'll see...

Oh aight, that's why I don't recognize him or his name lol. Yeah I figured Grant Hill wasn't on San Antonio but wasn't 100% sure lol. A lot of big games tonight.

Well no, it was a mistake but not on purpose lol. It was a joke to show that it's surprising to see that the Spurs were 1-4, while the Knicks were 4-2, up until the game.
