Default Favorite Childhood Books

What books were your favorites?

Mine: I loved and still do the Berenstain Bears. I have all 65+ of whats called 'First Time Book' series and 34 of the 'BIG Chapter book' series. I was an introverted kid and would happily sit on my bedroom floor with a stack by me reading them all day. I also loved the chapter book series 'Kids of Polk Street School' I own that whole series in first edition mint condition. My 2nd grade teacher used to read them out loud to us everyday for about a 1/2 hour.

Seconded on Berenstain Bears, they were my favorite books when I was in elementary. I collected all the books, even after I stopped reading them because I had an appreciation of the furry art.

I also loved Brian Jacques' Redwall series and I'm planning on finishing up my collection in the future, but I'm not a fan of the binding on the newer paperback editions, I prefer the Ace editions.

I spent hours of my childhood in my bedroom laughing my butt off at Lois Sachar's Wayside School books (Heck, there are times I still break these books out).

I fell in love with Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe series when I got to high school because the movie series was airing on A&E during that time.

I was (and still am) a major bookworm. I loved the Berenstein Bears, Little Critter, Clifford, American Girl, Baby-Sitters Club, Sleepover Friends, Wayside School, and so many more.

After reading your favourites, this is REALLY going to date me! But I gotta post 'em cuz they were great:

Little Women (read the series up to Jo's Boys)

Anne of Green Gables (a standard for every Canuck girl - had the entire set)

The Green Ghost (a cool paperback I got when I was in the grade 5 book club)

When I was younger:

Curious George (that monkey rocked!!)

any Dr. Suess - Green Eggs & Ham, Cat In The Hat, etc.

I never got into Winnie the Pooh - liked Tigger and Eorr (sp?) but not Winnie.

How could I ever forget Charlotte's Web? My all-time favourite as a child. Every kid should read that one! I even had a rat named Wilbur!

Oh, I still have quite a few Little Golden books and Sesame Street books. I'm hanging on to them so I have something entertaining for my nephew whenever he visits.
