During my time as a member of this board, I have posted dozens of messages about my fondness for the third season episode known as "Samantha's Protest." My most recent post on this topic is called "Informal Survey". At the present moment, it has sixteen views and zero response. In any event, the main theme of most of these posts is the joy that I got in seeing Katie get what she deserved in the end. If you have a clear memory of the episode, you know that in the middle of it Katie's first inclination was to abstain from the protest because she had to do her nails. This was a form of symbolism to show how shallow and superficail her character was. This is one more reason why it gave me great pleasure to see her bubble bursted at the end! In any event, the act of painting your nails, just like almost any other activity can have different conotations under different circumstances. Although nail painting looked selfish and unfeeling in this situation, in an episode of "Friends" it appeared to be a very sexy and sophisticated form of female bonding! In addition to this page, I have made this comparison several times on the "Friends" page of this site. Last night, for the first time, I received a response! I was about as happy and Samantha probably was when she learned that the handsome boy from the protest wanted to take her to a movie the next day! About an hour ago, I responded to this response. The post is titled "More Nail Polish". I would be very interested in what any of you guys think of it! Also, if you are unfamiliar with the references that I made to "Samantha's Protest", you can watch the episode in its entirely on "You Tube". Have fun!
