Rolleyes Boy sent home from from school last Friday for wearing offensive costume

What was the offensive costume? Was he a devil, a terrorist, a pimp, a robber, or a horror movie murderer? No. He was dressed as Jesus Christ. I'm tired of these PC liberals who promote tolerance and freedom of expression, but can't bear the thought of a Christian person expressing him or herself.

GOD HELP US ALL!!!

School Boots Boy Over Jesus Costume

(Nov. 1) - School officials in Paramus, N.J., weren't impressed when a student chose to pose as the Chosen One on Halloween.
Alex Woinski, 13, told WCBS-TV he was inspired to dress up as Jesus Christ because his friends say his shoulder-length brown hair makes him resemble the prophet. The teen completed the getup with sandals, a robe, a fake beard, a sash and thorns.

The principal of West Brook Middle School said Alex Woinski's costume was a distraction to other students.

The principal of West Brook Middle School said that the boy was sent home because the costume was disruptive to other students. "Children were [asking], where is the boy who is Jesus Christ?" principal Joan Broe told WCBS-TV. "It was disrupting the education process."
Alex said school officials told him the costume was "offensive to some students."
Alex, whose mother is Catholic and father is Jewish, has developed an interest in religion, according to WCBS-TV. He recently celebrated his Bar Mitzvah.
"I think the whole freedom of speech and expression has definitely had a damper put on it, and this is proof of that," said Kim Woinski, Alex's mother.
Alex went trick-or-treating as Jesus on Friday night.

pretty obvious that the principal had some personal problem with it and came up with that ****ty excuse for prohibiting it.

I'm surprised. The people here I'd think would be most offended by this thinking it's sacreligious were offended he got in trouble for it.

Isn't dressing up as Jesus for Halloween considered sacreligious? Especially considering the person in question is a practicing Jew.

much more "offensive" than this are the slutty outfits half of the girls in my school wear on a daily basis, and when guys wear their pants so far down that they fall off repetitively.

They don't have any restrictions there? I know in KY that they won't allow girls to wear clothes that are beyond a certain amount of revealing to prevent problems such as that.

They do have a dress code but it's not very well enforced.

OK....dressing up as Jesus Christ seems to me to be a little over the top, but that's cool by me.

In my day, there were no such things as 'distractions' - because everyone had a good sense of IGNORE. Guess that's not the case anymore - people are just too damn sensitive.

Could you please not automatically assume that the people who object are liberals?

The costume probably is sacreligious (if you're Christian, as I am), but it's just a costume and if the kids were told they could dress up for Halloween, I don't see he did anything wrong. Sounds like the principal needs to chill.
