Default bands with lineups you can't tolerate changes in?

as in, groups that replaced a key member, but to you things were never the same.

For me:
Queen. They died the day Freddie did. No Bad Company lead singer is going to replace him.
Van Halen. I'm in a minority here I know, but to me, Van Halen broke up after the 1984 album and didn't get back together until last year.
B-52's. When Cindy Wilson left, everything went downhill, thankfully she rejoined the band
Led Zeppelin. Looks like they're carrying on without Plant. Ugh!
Journey. Steve Augeri, Arnel Pinera, whoever else... it's always been about Steve Perry and always will be about him

I pretty much lose interest when the original lead singer leaves a band. But it really don't bother me when it's another member. AC-DC pulled it off when Bon Scott died. They inked Brian Johnson and didn't miss a beat.

I totally agree. I actually saw that line-up live a few years back, only because I had never seen Queen before, and even if it was without Freddie. First of all, I didn't even know that John Deacon wasn't touring with them, so it was just Brian & Roger. I have nothing against Paul Rodgers but I've never been much of a fan and it was very, very irritating for me that they did 4 "Paul Rodgers" songs. I came to this show to hear Queen songs, not Bad Company & Free songs!!

Why even bother?? And the people who are actually going to spend their money on tickets, well, they're total idiots.

Well, it's not I can't tolerate line-up changes but if the original G-n-R lineup were touring when Chinese Democracy finally comes out, I would go see them. The current line-up, no way.

I really like Dennis DeYoung and I haven't seen Styx live since he left the band, but I have seen him by himself.

I'd pick some of these doo wop and R&B groups from the 50's and 60's when they have members who look like they just got out of high school.

Journey, Queen, Temptations, Supremes...I could go on and on.

Led Zeppelin isn't Led Zeppelin without Robert Plant. Page and Jones are two extremely talented guys and I think that their getting back together is cool, but they should not call it Led Zeppelin.

Guns N' Roses isn't Guns N' Roses without Slash and Duff.

I don't understand why they're called "Led Zeppelin" without Plant. I remember in the 90's, Plant and Page reunited for a couple of tours and albums, but they called it "Page And Plant" because with Bonham dead, and without Jones' participation, that's an insult to the name Led Zeppelin. They should do the same consideration when Plant's not participating.

Yes, but that's the exception, not the rule. Btw, I love your Urkel avatar. I remember that episode.

other exceptions to the rule besides AC/DC

Journey (well, Steve Perry wasn't the original lead singer, Gregg Rolie was.)
Judas Priest (Rob Halford was their second singer)
Iron Maiden (Bruce Dickinson was their definitive singer and not the first)
Genesis (debatable amongst hardcores, but they didn't miss a step when Collins replaced Gabriel)
Moody Blues (they were destined to be one hit wonders before Justin Hayward came in, then their classic material started)
Fleetwood Mac (IMO truly reached their apex when Lindsey and Stevie joined)

Of course, those are all cases that are different than Queen, Zeppelin, etc... While Fleetwood and Genesis had success prior, it wasn't until those lead singers mentioned that they really took off in popularity. Same goes with the other bands mentioned, the lineups everyone remembers best aren't the original lead singers.

If it wasn't for Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, or Lindsey Buckingham, I don't think Fleetwood Mac would have found their voice without them. While the only original members of Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie, it was really those three that made Fleetwood Mac what they are today.

One lineup that I have been slightly disappointed at was the new Duran Duran replacement for Andy Taylor, Dom Brown. It is not easy filling Andy's shoes, but due to his behavior, what can you do? It happened more than once.

why didn't they bring Warren Cucurullo back? He was with them for roughly fifteen years, he should've come back after Andy was let go again.
