Default A question for other gay/bisexual guys on here and lesbian/bisexual women.

Are you more typically attracted to;

a. men/women who act and look like the typical perception of masculine and feminine and nothing like the gay stereotypes prevalent in the media,
or
b. men and women who are essentially fit the stereotypes

?
I'm not attacking anyone in this statement and I am all for people expressing themselves, but I want guys who look and act like guys, otherwise I'd just look for a girl.

But I want to see how others' answers compare to my own.

I'm very much attracted to masculine type of guys. One of the reasons I don't like any of the Gossip Girl actors is because they're all too "pretty" and girly (especially compared to the Supernatural guys who are butch and manly, or James Lafferty on One Tree Hill who is muscular and masculine). I like rough masculinity, and tons of makeup doesn't cut it. Maybe it's narrowminded, but to me, dating a drag queen is practically the same thing as dating a woman, if I wanted a woman, I'd be straight and would go for the real deal, ya know? I was starting to go out with a guy about two years ago but then I found out he is a part-time drag queen, and I tried to accept it but after "John, can I call ya back, I'm practicing my Beyonce for Friday night", I knew it wasn't meant to be.

I pass no judgment on the more effeminate gay guys since I do believe some guys are more girly than others, but it's not really my preferred attraction

I have been through phases myself of being more or less feminine, because when I first came out, I was confused and had no idea how to express myself. and since most of my boyfriends at the time were very feminine and essentially women with penises, they influenced me in several ways. As I've gotten to know myself better and learned more about myself, I realized this isn't the real me and that isn't how I want to express myself.

If you were to see me now, you'd most likely never know I wasn't straight until I open my mouth. This is because I don't feel any different from other guys other than my sexual preferences. I don't know how to put it other than, on the inside I feel like a guy who is attracted to other guys. Not a woman in a man's body or someone who was born the wrong sex. But I agree with everything you said.

I would say that for the most part I am more turned on by more masculine men as well. Like, I love deep voices and I do like a guy that is more in shape (muscles aren't really a requirement, but that's not to say I don't enjoy them, LOL). I do like a few somewhat feminine guys. But I'm in the same camp that is turned off when it comes to make-up and the like. Like, if they want to wear it then I have nothing against it; I'm just not put on by it.

I have no problem with drag queens (I think a lot of them seem to have awesome personalities and I find a number of them entertaining, for example, Coco Peru) but I wouldn't date them either.

Fully straight female here but I have to agree with most of these posts. I don't go for the pretty feminine guys (Think guys that look like anime men) with the giant doe eyes and long whispy hair, either. I honestly don't get girls my age and younger that go for the bony thin guys. I don't go for body building buff, but I do go for thick (still thin but not fat) teddy bear type guys with character in their faces. I like the big toned toned arms and chest that come with the thick build. What can I say? I like something I can actually hold on to.

haha, you just described me. Too bad a lot of gay men don't feel that way, we're too thin for the bears and too disgustingly obese for the twinks. It always irks me when people attack Seth Rogen's weight for instance, because for me and other people like me, he is a celebrity we can identify with, and even he is slimming down for a part (tho he said the weight will come back when the movie wraps).

I usually perfer men, but, if I am attracted to a woman; she is usually very, very feminine looking and womanly in shape. Meaning, big boobs, voluptuous. Long hair, is also a plus. Also, I love exotic women. Women, who are either Latina's, Asian, Pacific Islander (especially Hawaiian women..); but, I love Latina's the most..YUMMY
