Default Was Anyone Else Weirded Out By The "Casket" Episode?

I was just thinking about this the other day...

I don't know what season it was in but it is the episode where some guy wants to kill Jack so Jack has a "wake" in the funeral home. Jack lies in the coffin and pretends to be dead.

It was a funny episode but I think Nick at Nite aired this about a week after John Ritter died. This was just weird.

I guess it is kind of weird if you really think about it. But it would have been weirder if it would have aired the day that he had died, or the day before.

What's weird about that episode is that Furley, in his eulogy, comments on how young he was ...

I do not really see where the last poster is coming from with what Mr. Furley said. When that episode was made the character of Jack was supposed to be somewhere in his late twenties. This was the early eighties. By this stage in the game, we were already in the generation where people were living well into their seventies or even eighties. This being the case, Jack could have been considered quite young!

I think what they meant by that was because John Ritter was fairly young when he passed away. Hence the irony (for some people) when Furley says that "Jack was so young".

Surprisingly it didn't seem that weird to me after watching after his death. I was able to see him as Jack Tripper on a TV show.

The only episode I refuse to watch is the one where they close the door on the apartment for the last time. It makes me want to cry!

I hate that guy that stole Janet (Phillip). I wish they had never met!

It is a bit sad, looking back, but that's one of my favorite episodes. "What am I? Jack in a box?" Haha.

In a word, YES. I always get creeped out when they do that on TV (Small Wonder and Wings had similar episodes).

This is one of my favorite episodes. After John died, I always thought it would be strange watching this episode but when I finally did, it wasn't. It is much too funny to be sad about and everytime I watch it I remember how great of a comedian John was.
