Default Man-hating on "The View"!

I watch this show alot only because I'm interested in it. What I don't like is the man-hating/bashing that seems to go one everyday. Like anytime they talk about men, it's only to pick on us, or pick apart our flaws. Yet if there were a bunch of men sitting around doing the same with women, role reversal, the show would be pulled off the air. And Joy Behar...she is the one who hates men the most, to the point of thinking it's perfectly acceptable for women to beat up, mistreat and cheat on their husbands/boyfriends, and even wanting men to die. Also, they used to have a special "Men's Day Wednesday" where male celebs and personalities would sit in with the ladies as co-hosts, but they did away with that very quickly saying they are only allowing women celebrities and personalities....okay, what if an all-male panel show did the same only allowing male celebs? There would be protests and angry letters left and right! Finally, ever notice almost everytime they interview a male celebrity, they treat him with contempt, but most of the time when they interview a female celebrity, they treat her like royalty? Well, there are times when they are hostile with women celebs as well, but mostly they have alot of issues with men. I just think this is a very misandrist show and it doesn't have to be. It's possible for women to host a talk show without verbally slapping men all the time. And these gals wonder why male viewership is so low.

to be honest, I'm sure when you get a bunch of guys together during football or whatever, they'll be talking about what nags women are, etc.... I don't see the difference with the View girls?

The difference is if a bunch of men were sitting around saying the same stuff the "View" women say about men about women, there'd be protests and angry letters to the networks left and right...heck, a show where the genders were reversed wouldn't even make it past a few seconds.

That's precisely why I hate "The View"!!! Everyone on that show annoys me to no end! Even the ones that are well-respected like Barbara Walters and Whoopie Goldberg!

That proves my point. People think a group of men hosting a talk show where they talk about women is a misogynyst idea. But a group of women talking about men on a talk show is empowering and a huge success. Two words....double-standard!!

Well said, Andrea! I have no idea why Barbara Walters thought about creating this show in the first place! It's such a disgrace to daytime TV right now!

I totally agree with brownie87. I used to like watching this show back when it was Meredith, Star, Joy, Lisa and occasionally Barbara. But it all went downhill, first after Lisa Ling left (she was my favorite), then after the whole thing with Star Jones' ego and then her wedding and how Joy Behar had it with Star's attitude, and the final nail was when Meredith left, followed by star, and then Rosie took over (the personification of man-hater) and Sheri Sheppard. I stopped watching altogether when Rosie took over, but I did hear about the Rosie/Elisabeth feud. I started watching shortly after Whoopi took over but lately I've been getting a little fed up with the whole election crap already! Firstly, I enjoyed the show alot more when they were talking about everyday stuff - like dating and stuff like that and they would occasionally touch on politics. But now it's like the only thing they talk about and that's when all the arguing and cat-scratching starts. I also agree there's been a ton of male-bashing on the show as of late, mostly from Joy and Whoopi.

I LOVED The Other Half!! There wasn't any female-bashing on that show. The "ladies" on The View take man-bashing to a whole new level. And I'm a woman!!

I actually thought "The Other Half" (which ran from 2001-03, for those who care) was a decent talk show as well, it just suffered from poor time slots in a lot of markets (it was a syndicated show, BTW). I thought Dick Clark, Danny Bonaduce, Mario Lopez, & Dr. Jan Adams (replaced by Dorian Gregory in Season 2) were great hosts who always respected any female guests that came on, especially Dick Clark.

Okay....so an all male talk show respect their female guests, which is great....but an all female talk show basically treats male guests like crap. Okay. Another thing that bugs me is on news shows where men get picked on for every little thing from eating, to sleeping, to interneting, to BREATHING, while women are treated like human beings (health concerns, empowerment, blah-blah). Just entirely too much ant-male/pro-female bias in the world today.
