Norton's middle name

In "Kramden Vs. Norton," Ed reveals that his middle name is Lillywhite (which he claims was his mother's maiden name...Norton was his father's ). However, in the color remake, "Movies Are Better Than Ever," he says that his middle name is Ethelbert. Was there a reason for this change? I personally like Lillywhite better, but maybe the writers thought Ethelbert was funnier at the time.
