Default Question for anyone who has been banned from another board

Why is it when you are banned from a particular board you can't ever find a board just as good or better?? I was just banned from a Dating Advice Board and was a member since december 2007 and i was banned for trolling the fourm?? And I been trying to find another board that is similar but no luck

same thing happened with a sports board years ago, I have never found a better board or a board that was on the same level. I guess if I was to get banned from this board I would probably just cancel my internet service because I know there is no better TV Board than this one, not even close

I am curious, how were you banned from a dating advice board?

Yeah I was banned from another message board. That is actually how I found this site. I was searching for another 'That 70's Show' message board. The S.O. 70's board was not as popular as the one I was banned from. But I found other boards that made up for it, and now I love this board. I hope I will not be banned from here. I will try to behave myself.

I've only been banned from one board, so I can't really say. I was banned from a board after breaking the cardinal rule of arguing with trolls. A definite no no.

I was banned once form a board a long time ago just for standing up for myself against a couple of rude posters. That's why I choose my battles carefully and don't get involved with fights. It's just not worth it.

i was banned on a board once for posting a thread that just had the phrase "WE MAKE HOLES IN TEETH!" repeated over and over in the message. it's times like that when i realize that SO is much more convenient than most other boards.

I have never been banned from a forum board, but I was an eyewitness to a fourm war in which members of a board were banned at once, because the moderator got some false information and ended up banning people because he thought people were out to get him and were causing mischeif.

That wasnt quite true but it got pretty ugly. Thats one of the reasons why I dont post in the politics sections, and why I avoid arguments and debates.

It aint my thing.

I was banned for asking a Beyonce question at a music board. Apparently, Beyonce and Britney topics were bannable offenses.

I've never been banned from a board but I have certainly been hurt by comments made about me on them. Several years ago, when I was still new to them, someone started this ridiculous game regarding a TV show that I loved to watch (hense the board subject). The object was to post a scenerio that would ruin the show. I didn't think before posting and basically told them how stupid I thought it was. Oh man, did I catch hell for that! I was literally in tears after reading that! That certainly taught me a lesson!

More recently I was on another board and we were having a discussion about an episode. My favorite couple on the show had a fight or something and being that I liked the guy better, I jumped to his defense.

I found an email from someone on the board basically chewing me out left and right. I was so upset I was in tears after reading that! I couldn't figure out for the life of me how this person got my email address. It turned out that it was someone I knew that already had my email address and was posting as another person. That was probably my worst experience on the board.

Now I try very hard to watch what I say, but I still try to express my opinions, even if others disagree with them.

I always end up finding something way more interesting. Most of the time I don't get banned, I just get fed up and leave or I ask to have my account removed because I won't be returning.

For example: I liked Retrojunk but there was so much negativity there that I couldn't stand it and I had to leave. Also, people thought I was attacking them when I was only trying to have an intelligent discussion. I think some confused my sarcasm (or "snark" as some call it) with bullying. I was becoming the Dr. John Becker of the online crowd.

You see, this is why I don't bother with Shipping. People get way too personal over fictional relationships to the point it becomes incredibly silly. I tried shipping a long time ago when I was a Sonic fan and used to support Sonic and Sally. I got incredibly fed up with the infighting between Sonic/Amy, Sonic/Sally and Sonic/Mina (Mina was the mongoose character from the comic) that I just pulled out of it.
Also, people confuse my slash fiction hate with me being anti-gay. Not in the slightest! It's just that if I had two hot men going at it, I'd want to be in the middle. I don't want to just watch!

I've been banned from a board. The worst thing is when the administrator later decides to blame all of the bad things on you -- not remembering that others were just as guilty of misconduct, if not moreso.

Yeah, it's easy for people to blame everything on the ones who can no longer respond. That way, the ones doing the blaming are less likely to be criticized.
