Post New Gidget vs. Old Gidget

On the New Gidget board everyone's writing about things other than NG. Who was pretier Sally Field or Caryn Richman? I vote Caryn to be prettier. Her face is positively prettier than Sally's but her figure is very similar.

Hey, where is that GIDGET board? I absolutely LOVE that show! I think though, comparing the two actresses isn't really fair. I like both of them, for different qualities. Sally definitely defined the character for me. As a guy, I never got into the movies with Sandra Dee, (no slight against Sandra intended ) until I caught the TV series. Believe me, when you get a bunch of guys in their teens, black, white and whatever, getting into a show about a teenage girl, Sally HAD to be doing something right! Of course then, the New Gidget came along as we got a bit older and then Carolyn was hot in our eyes as well! But my first love will always be Sally!

Sally will always be Gidget to me. Also, the writing for the New Gidget show was really awful, and I never liked the Gidget-approaches-middle-age premise. And how did she wind up married to Manly from "Little House"? I bet Laura wasn't too happy.

Too bad they didn't do a remake rather than a sequel series, with the actress who played Gidget's niece actually playing the role of Gidget. Throw in Robert Mandan (from "Soap") as Russ Lawrence (I really think he looks and sounds like Don Porter), and there you go.

Cool

I ama die-hard Sally fan; so, for me, there is only one Gidget. I grew up watching Sandra Dee, etc. in the movies, but I loved the series. I just watched my "Gidget"video the other day and remembered why I loved the show. Wouldn't reruns be great? Teddy

I think Caryn Richman is prettier than Sally Field. I much prefer her in every way. Love to see her get sexy sometime in like an R rated movie if she'd ever do one. Caryn is great looking for a brunette.

I liked the older Gidget, mainly because it's the only one that I've seen. I remember when Gidget was on SGN.

I'll always remember a friend of my Mom's assessment of The Flying Nun;"She changed her surfboard for a nan-habit."

Thumbs up

For me I will always choose Sally Field as Gidget. She just fit the part at the time.
