So, I'm pretty sure Spike is showing this story today.
It's original context has always been somewhat of a puzzle to me. There was an update aired on Unsolved Mysteries about the exoneration and release of Purvis as well as the arrest of Paul Serio and Paul Hamwi for Susan Hamwi's murder. When the original segment about Purvis aired is a question. It's possible that it was featured on the short lived "Final Appeal" spinoff, but TJ posted episode guide descriptions of all known FA episodes and the Purvis story just doesn't match any of the descriptions. I can't help but wonder if the original story was slated to air on "Final Appeal" but the series was canned before the episode about Purvis aired. Anyone else ever notice that UM aired a lot of "Final Appeal" segments during season five AFTER the demise of the FA show? I wonder if some of these stories were supposed to be FA show cases originally and were moved to UM after the show was canceled. I also suppose it is possible that the Purvis case was on UM at some point but I think it's doubtful. It will be interesting to see just what Spike serves up. |

was this on? I haven't been watching the new UM, but I'm curious as to whether or not there was additional footage shown this time around.

Yeah, just so everyone is clear, Paul Hamwi is still in prison in Florida serving a 25 year to life sentence. Hamwi is now 63 years old. He will be eligible for parole in the year 2018. Paul Serio died in prison in 2004 at the age of 58 while also serving a 25 year to life sentence. John Purvis it appears is living life the best he can and I am happy for him. He is now 63. Purvis's mother Emma Jo Bartlett passed away in 2006 at the age of 89.
