I did a Google search on Phillip Macri and found a recent online video about him. It's only 5 minutes long but very interesting.
Here is the link to the video: http://bc253wc.blogspot.com/2008/05/...an-change.html To refresh everyone's memories, Phillip was the highschool basketball player that became a quadriplegic after diving into a wave at Virginia Beach, breaking his neck. A women took him out of the water and saved his life. |

Wow. He looks fabulous, really healthy and robust. He has some movement in his arms, which probably opens a lot of doors for him, assistive technology wise. Glad to see he is doing so well and is so happy. His attitude is amazing! Makes me feel like a slacker for not doing more for others. There is my inspiration to volunteer today.

![]() I never forgot that case. I have to admit that when the broadcast of Phil's story successfully resulted in him meeting his savior, I wasn't expecting a fortysomething woman. Based on the reenactment in the segment, I naturally assumed it would be someone younger. The actress playing good samaritan appeared to be in her 20s (the accident happened in the late '80s, at which time the samaritan was in her late 30s). But I understood the reason for the difference; at the time the segment was being developed, not much was known about Phil's savior. Therefore, the UM crew had to be creative and come up their own ideas on Phil's then-unknown savior. |
