Movie Has anyone seen Fireproof?

Ever since I first heard about this movie, I've been curious about it. I read on the board that it got really good reviews, so I'm just wondering. It's a Christian film starring Kirk Cameron but I'm wondering if it has a lot of religious aspects in it or if they are just saying it's really clean.

Is it worth seeing in the theatre or should I wait till Netflix has it?

Considering it's with Kirk Cameron, I'd say there is some sort of Christian message in there. And I'm not trash talking Kirk--there are plenty of others on the web who gladly put him down.

I will see it on Netflix. It's done surprisingly well, over $20 million, for a very low budget picture.

I haven't seen it myself, but my sister and brother-in-law did - they loved it!! I might see it when it comes to DVD.

I think the reason people don't frown on Kirk is because he's got "conventional" religious beliefs, but I think he's as bad as Tom Cruise. I can't even watch Growing Pains reruns anymore because of how obsessed he is with telling everyone they're a sinner and are hellbound.... considering everyone sins, Kirk forgets he does it too and doesn't realize it

Give me Lisa Whelchel over him anyday, now that's an example of a Christian who spreads love as her message, not scare tactics and brimstone.

There will always be people who tend to be more zealous when it comes to talking about their faith.
I've never been comfortable trying to deliberately "witness" to someone. It's better to live it out, than to always talk it up, but that's MO and I'm not here to get into a big old debate about evangelism.

I don't mind the references to God and so forth. I consider myself a Christian but I'm not active in a church and the last time I was I really was only involved in the choir.

Anyway, I was just wondering because I don't want to see a "preachy" movie, like some out there, but I think this one is worth seeing.

Musicjunkie, that's interesting about Kirk Cameron. I had no idea he was that "preachy". However, I will always love Growing Pains, even if I don't ever watch his religious shows.

I haven't seen it, but I work at a movie theater and I was surprised to see how well it was selling. People have even come out of the movie and asked me how long it will be in theaters because they want to see it again. Almost everyone who has come out after seeing the movie of it has given me a recomendation to go see it.

That's a great endorsement right there! I may see it just because it's been forever since I've seen Kirk Cameron in anything. He really is a very good actor.

I just watched this film and wanted to comment on it. I didn't "love" it the way I wanted to, and to be honest, the only real "actor" is Kirk. If you were to compare his acting to everyone else in this movie, Kirk would come out looking like (Insert name of famous actor here). It would be like putting Tom Hanks (my favorite actor) in a dramatic film along side some amateaur actors who are in their first movie. Most of the acting was just terrible; especially the woman who played Kirk's wife. Way over the top, and I wanted to smack her upside the head half the time!

It's definitely a religious movie, no doubt about that, and at times that got on my nerves. However, it wasn't "preachy" or anything, and the message came through loud and clear. It was an interesting film and some parts were even hiliarious!

It has a book that goes along with it and even though it's a religious book, I think I could benefit from it as a whole.

Anyone who is having problems in their marriage will probably find this film at least a little helpful. I did!

Kind of ironic that I watched it today, which is my 13th wedding anniversary!

I found it very well done, considering it's a church that is doing it--they get the finances and people volunteer to play parts, act as extras....thing is, Hollywood wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole, so people who want to see such strong moral viewpoints are finding ways to do it themselves and congrats to them!

Thumbs up Loved Fireproof!!

I loved Fireproof. Liked it so much that I actually taped it off on Demand a couple weeks ago. There have been so many corny Christian films made, but recently the quality of Christian films has gone up quite noticeably. From Facing The Giants, to now Fireproof, I'm really looking forward to what's coming up soon as far as Christian filmmaking goes. As far as the movie itself goes, I give it a definite recommendation. Very touching, and uplifting film. Definitely a have a handkerchief nearby kind of film.

I have heard of Facing the Giants but have never seen it. Since I did enjoy "Fireproof" I may check out "Giants" to see what it's like.
