Default Sad Story was aired about the 1998 Minnesota Vikings on NFLnetwork this morning

They have this new series called MISSING RINGS where a team who was good enough to be champions during that particular season. They did the 1990 Bills and today was the 1998 Vikes and how everything was set up for them to go to the SB and all because of a MISSED FG by Gary Anderson who had not missed a FG all season missed one in the NFC Championship and could have put the Vikings up
30-20 with 2 min left.

I will say this was defintely a team who should have won the SB in 1998, they had it all

Nobody knows better about the 1990 Bills than me.

That was maybe the best team to never win it all.

How they lost to a dull, plodding and boring Giants team, I'll never know.

Well that's why both the 90 Bills and 98 Vikings have so much in common because a MISSED FG stopped them from being the Champs when they were so dominant all year

the 98 vikes were one of the best teams I have ever seen... My best friend is a die hard vikings fan & I never saw someone as crushed as he was that day.... The falcons were no slouches either @ 14-2 that year, but never did I think the vikes would lose

Funny Statement from Chris Carter about Randall Cunningham stepping in for the Injured Brad Johnson that season

"RANDALL CAME IN AND PLAYED SO WELL THAT I FORGET WHAT INJURY BRAD JOHNSON HAD"

The Vikings had no defense that year. They had all the offense in the world, but they couldn't stop nobody. But, like many people that year, the Broncos-Viking matchup would have been more attractive.

Yeah it was mentioned on the program that they had to OUTSCORE Opponents because of the Weak Defense

I am sure that missed FG is still haunting Scott Norwood to this say. LOL

1998 Vikings were a damn good team, regardless.

(Ask Garfield- the Vikes beat your Redskins 41-7!)

The funny part is that a year later, the Rams won with a just-as-prolific offense.

Randall should have been the starter the following season but something tells me he wasn't

That was the first year I really started watching the Vikings. It was incredibly heartbreaking. I wouldn't say they had no defense that year, it's just that the Vikings scored so fast and frequently, that the opposing teams had lots of possessions.

The late '80s Eagles teams, and early '90-91 teams were great, we had the best all around defense- gave up the least amount of points, most turnovers and yards all one year and injuries plagued us. We had great receivers, Fred Barnett, Cris Carter for a little while and others, a great defense, quarterback and running back. The Pats last year, the '98 Vikings, late '80s & early '90s Bills teams. The Colts in 1969 I believe it was, which lost to Broadway Joe's Jets..So many other teams as well.

Please stop talking about the 88-91 Eagles like you were around to see them-lol Come on, you can I say I READ that the Eagles of the late 80's and Early 90's were Good Defensively but not speak about it like you watched it at the time. I'm defintely not going to speak about the 1980 Eagles or Cowboys because I was in preschool

I can say-"I read that those teams were........."
