Are you more likely to read someone's profile if they have a nice avatar or a cool screen name?

Sometimes, but not always. Sometimes I just click on profiles for the hell of it. But every-so-often, I see a really awesome username or avatar and I have to click for sure.

As one who hasn't changed avatars all that often (I've changed them only about three times since being with SO), no I don't read profiles based on members' avatars, though I enjoy seeing the many different and creative avatars people use.

It's tough to say - I am a very visual person, so if something cool catches my eye, I'll click on it.

Naah, it all just depends on my mood. If I'm in a reading mood I check them out, if not, I don't. Pictures and all that makes no difference to me. I am however more likely to view a close friends profile than someone I don't know too well, but I think everyone's that way.

Me too! Or I'll click on someone's profile in regards to something posted in a thread they participated in. I try to change my avatar and signature to go with the time of the year or an upcoming event. More often than not, though... it's because I've gotten bored with my avatar or signature!

I pay attention to post consistency, post thought, and posting frequently.

Littlebelle almost always responded to my threads on the 'Step by Step' boards, and that is what kickstarted my friendship with her.

Usually its their posts that make me want to look. But there are some really great av's out there!

Sort of. If they have a nice avatar, and it's colorful, I can relate to it or I like that picture/person in the picture, I might check out their profile. A lot of times, the reason I check out certain people's profiles is because I am friends with that person or I wanna see what threads they started or if they have posted today, specifically on a topic we have been previously talking about. That's basically it.

Not usually. Most of the time when I read someone's profile, it's to see what other tv show's they're interested in.
