Default Madonna and Guy Ritchie to split?

http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_an...icle4945979.ece

Madonna and Guy Ritchie 'about to confirm divorce'
(Ian West/PA Wire)
Madonna turned up to support Guy Ritchie at last month's premiere of his latest film
Chris Smyth
Madonna and Guy Ritchie are planning to divorce, it was reported late last night.

The Sun newspaper claimed that the couple were preparing to announce the split because “they can’t bear to live with the pretence any longer”.

A spokeswoman for Madonna declined to comment but the paper claimed that a statement would be made public imminently. A “highly-placed” but unnamed source quoted by the paper said that the pair “can now barely bring themselves to say two words to each other”.

The source added: “Despite huge attempts to patch things up they both knew deep down that divorce was on the cards. It wasn’t a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’.” It was also claimed that the couple had not spoken face to face for three weeks.

Madonna treads the boards for hubby
Rumours of marital difficulties have dogged the singer and her film director husband for about a year. In July the wife of baseball’s highest paid star, Alex Rodriguez, filed for divorce, blaming Madonna for the collapse of the marriage. Madonna, 50, denied any ro- mantic involvement with Rodriguez.

Madonna and Ritchie have previously strongly denied reports that they were to split and said that there were “no plans” to divorce. Last month they presented a united front at the premiere in London of Mr Ritchie’s film RocknRolla and Mr Ritchie’s 40th birthday party. The couple have children, Rocco, 8, and David Banda, who was adapted as a baby from Malawi, 2. Madonna has a daughter, Lourdes, 12, from her relationship with the dancer Carlos Leon. They married in 2000

personally, I am taking all of this with a grain of salt until there's official confirmation. It seems like they were splitting a few months ago, plus she's busy in the middle of a tour right now. But considering she's been spending more and more time in New York after devoting the last several years in the UK with Guy, it makes you wonder if it's true this time.

Yeah, I've been hearing rumblings about this for awhile now. I hope it's not true, as they're a solid family. I didn't know that Madonna was 10 years older than Guy.

looks like it's been confirmed in the UK. There's pages about it already over on the Madonna message board I read. Ironically, most fans seem to be happy for this because they feel like she became "boring" when she married him and it was when all the British stuff began, since they see ditching Guy equalling her coming back to the states full time. Not just that, a lot of people are cheering on the fact that her next album will be better since her two best-received albums to date by the fans were the ones she recorded after her divorce from Sean Penn (Like A Prayer) and after she gave birth to her daughter (Ray Of Light).

I personally never cared for Guy at all and it looks like a lot of her fans don't, but I do feel horrible for the children. Divorce always hits kids the hardest, and even tho they aren't your average kids in the sense that their mom is one of the richest entertainers on the planet and can receive anything they want, it still doesn't mean that they're hurting any less that their parents are splitting.

People confirmed it. That's a shame, I thought they were good together. Couples just grow apart I guess.

Yah, it's always really sad when any marriage breaks down. Especially when children are involved.

That's true. She did last twice as long with him (8 years) than she did with Sean Penn (4 years).

I think they'll be able to Aaron. Madonna is still good friends with Lourdes' father, Carlos, and they've been able to raise her very well I think. I'm sure it will be the same with Guy. At least there's no problem with money so either way, they'll be fine in that regard.

And yes, she was still young and a lot less mature when she married Sean Penn. At least there were no children out of that marriage.
