The following is the email I recieved yesterday from the producer of this project...
Well folks, some of you know this but I wanted to officially announce that, at this time, the Gilligan's Island Movie Collection will not be coming to DVD. Despite having gotten music costs and Universal's cut as low as I could, it's still too expensive to be worth the while of a distributor. Add to that the ever changing marketplace and the moving target nature of these distributors and it just ain't gonna happen. I am not surprised as this is always a possible outcome but I am disappointed. This was a long time in the making and I know that a substantial contingent of fans would have bought them right up. Plus we all would have gotten a kick out of it. But I am glad that I had the chance to cross paths with all of you along the way. The one hope here (besides Hope Juber, BWAH!) is that one distributor might be interested in offering these titles as downloads on iTunes, and this would possibly include the Gilligan cartoons. In this case it is doubtful that 'Globetrotters' would be included (sorry D###) since this would not be a set per se and they'd negotiate with Universal seperately and they are almost definitely not interested. The cartoons are up to Warner but still of interest as the Schwartzes have a cut. The only ones we have carte blanche to offer are Rescue and Castaways and while this would mean less songs to clear, it still may not be economically viable for iTunes to offer them. And frankly I don't think this would amount to much money. We shall see. Anyway folks, I'm glad for the experience and we'll see where this ultimately takes us all. Cheers, (Name kept private) Well there you have it! I too am very sad as I was looking forward to working & contributing to this project! Let's keep our fingers crossed that the two first films & the cartoons still make it to DVD! Aloha Jack

Bummer - they could've easily put the movies on the complete set as extras.

No, that would have involved making deal with Warner, who doesn't own the movies, and that's not so easy. There's no way they would have had Globetrotters, a Universal picture.

That is a bummer. I have the first movie on VHS from years ago.
