Default Anything You Used To Enjoy Doing That You Can't Do Anymore?

Is there anything you used to really love doing, but for whatever reason, you can't do it anymore?

I used to LOVE horseback riding! I was a competitive rider and won a few local shows, my dream was to make to the olympic riding team. When I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, my doctor said no more riding. I do still ride occasionally, but I'll never be able to compete again.

Pictures of me riding several years ago:

This was my sport, Show Jumping(this is a pro, not me, LOL)

i was really serious about spelling bees in fifth through eighth grade. i got as far as ninth place statewide. it was very stressful and nerve-wracking, but i miss it sometimes. only reason i can't do it anymore is because i'm out of middle school, lol.

Sad

Yes, writing! I've always wanted to be a writer and have been writing for a really long time. But, lately....I dunno I don't have the same motivation to write like I used to--I'm not sure if it's just a lack of energy or a lack of ideas. It's really depressing.

Focus. Not so much that I can't do it, it's more re-teaching myself how to do it.

Go to a sporting event and enjoy myself. I have always preferred things that go fast ever since I've gotten Internet service. Plus, free agency has factored in to the point the players could all be aliens from outer space and I wouldn't care! Oh, and I forgot to mention sky high ticket prices!

Heck, watching the events on TV is not as enjoyable, either!

1. Going to a website called scout.com-can't do it anymore because they upgraded their site

2.Going to a dating site called tango.com-can't do it anymore because they upgraded their site

3.Having TV chatter on here but so many TV chatters left the site and I don't get to do it anymore.

I played in a softball League in my twenty and thirties, but like playing MLB, you get old and have to give it up to the younger guys. I really miss playing.

Well, when my good-paying job ended (in 2005), I went from being a shopaholic to a penny-pincher. Poverty will do that to a person.

same here. we got out of $40,000 worth of debt this summer. although we have plenty of breathing room now from stress i miss being able to buy stuff. we can still buy things but have to be very, very careful about how much we spend so i always feel like i'm counting every penny. i guess its a good thing though because i'm an impulse buyer, i like to shop when i'm bored which can be dangerous, and the stuff i usually buy collects dust! but all and all i'm very blessed and grateful we got our loan just in time before the economy really went sour. they would have never given it to us now. and i feel lucky that for the most part we won't have to worry about affording to heat our house this winter. after we paid our cards off the interest rates went up to 25% on 2 of them. we shut the jc penney one down, but have still kept my chase visa for emergency use (vet/car trouble etc). xmas will be tight though, i'm only giving 1 gift per person.

I get the same way! I even wrote a rough draft of a novel and paid major bucks to have it "critiqued" several years ago. They did a thorough job. It was critiqued by a real writer, which was cool. I just haven't been motivated to make the changes, because I have no idea where to start. But I do like writing fan fiction.
I've been thinking for a while about taking a writing class online, but haven't done it yet.

It's not so much that I can't but that I'm kind of afraid to do it. It sounds stupid, but in 9th grade (MANY years ago!) I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle across the street. This was back in the day when helmets weren't required, but I still remember my head hitting the street so hard. That's hard to forget! To this day, I'm afraid to ride for fear of falling off. So I am ALL FOR helmet laws.

When I was a kid, I used to like blowing up stuff with fireworks. Then, when they became illegal in New York around 1960, we'd pay the 'big kids' to make runs into Manhattan on the subway and buy cherry bombs, firecrackers etc. from Chinatown. Prior to that, you could, believe it or not, walk into any corner candy story, and buy this stuff). As I got older, these items became harder to get, and even now if I could get them, they no longer interest me all that much.
