Default Your Original Feelings About Cordelia Going to "Angel"

This is mostly for people who watched "Buffy" in it's original run. But anyone can answer.

What were your feelings when you found out Cordelia would be leaving "Buffy" to join Angel for his spin-off?

I probably wouldn't have been too happy, since I don't like it when more than one character leaves at a time. Although it turned out to be great all around, Cordy was great on "Angel" and Anya was great on "Buffy."

I think it was at the start of season 3 of Buffy when I heard that Angel and Cordelia were both leaving for the spin-off show the next year. I was little, so I wasn't really thinking about how it was going to affect the show the following year, but thinking back on it, I guess I was ok with it.

As I got older, watching the reruns on tv and my DVD's, it's obvious that once Xander breaks her heart and Cordy dumps him, she didn't have that much to do. She sort of goes back to season one Cordelia Chase, where she would pop up in a scene, say something sarcastic and bitchy, then walk away. She wasn't a part of the "scooby gang" too much during season 3. After the breakup, there was that thing with her hating Xander and all his friends, and then her crush on Wesley, but she wasn't really involved in the storylines and fights against evil anymore (not that she exactly contributed a whole lot to fighting evil - though there was that one tiime with the spatula!). So in all, it felt like there was no reason for her to be on the show anymore. And if there was no spin-off, I think they still might have written Cordelia out because of lack of future storylines for her. It would have made sense for her to leave Sunnydale anyway, since she always complained how lame the town was and how fantastic L.A. was (little did she know....).

I think her going to Angel was the best thing for the character. She's in my top 3 favorite Buffyverse characters of all time - mainly because of her move to L.A.

I really like Cordelia, but I was sad that she wasn't the same as she was on Buffy.
