The lady who rescued dogs
Does anyone remember the segment where the older woman rescued dogs, and kept them on her property which was targeted by someone who killed the dogs? Anyone remember her name/location and also if they ever caught the s.o.b. who did that?

I think the woman's name was Mable Woods. That was a very sad and disturbing story that, to the best of my knowledge, was not solved. I think crystaldawn or possibly someone else had emailed the sheriff's department some time back and they had responded saying that Mable was living in a nursing home and not doing so well, and that the harassment had stopped. If you search the forum with her name you could probably find out more.

Oh no! That is so sad. Thanks, I am going to do some searches, the name does ring a bell. I thought they would have solved it, such she was in such a remote area. :/

Here's the reply I received back in November of 2006 concerning her:
Heather, Mabel Woods is still alive and kickin, she is in a local nursing home and no longer runs the Kennels east of Bonne Terre. The farm she lived on has just this last year been sold to a local business man. I was working for the sheriff in St. Francois county when the kennels burned and in fact was on your show along with some other deputies. Several leads came into our office for a while but nothing ever panned out. If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact me. Sheriff Dan Bullock |
