Default Nancy Hyer and Billy Fischer

I noticed in the new Unvolved website a case about Nancy Hyer and Billy Fischer. In 1986 they were both murdered and their bodies found in the trunk of an abandoned car. Billy was shot 18 times and Nancy had been stabbed. Billy's father is a suspect, who has since sold his house and disappeared.

Was this case ever shown on Lifetime?

Yes it was on Lifetime (I just put on volume 17 actually). He has to be one of the most evil men ever profiled on UM. As far as I know he is still on the loose.

It was produced for Lifetime. In other words, the UM segment didn't exist when the series was on primetime. It aired on Lifetime in 2002. (America's Most Wanted has profiled the case numerous times, even before UM did a segment on it.)

This guy was despicable. I felt so bad for Nancy's family. They need to find this dude.

Ahhh, yes I do remember this one from Vol. 17.
I never understand who can kill (or even try to kill) their own children (Marie Hilley anyone). Mr. Fischer is vile, needless to say. The way he killed his son and Nancy, both totally innocent, and could have cared less. Didnt his son have some sort of disease and need money for medical expenses. Geesh...the father is a complete moron.

Yeah, the son had cystic fibrosis (I think...I'm not positive) and needed money to pay his medical bills. The story goes that Mr. Fischer was tired of giving him money, and that's one of the reasons he killed him. He's been profiled on AMW several times, but he's never been caught. That just makes me angry.

Just thought I'd bump this up. I just heard from a friend of Billy's and today would have been his 42nd birthday. Unfortunately his father is still on the run.

I don't blame you. If William Fischer killed his son (who did in fact have cystic fibrosis) and Nancy Hyer, and is still living, then he needs to be found and brought to justice. I certainly don't like seeing even one murderer escape punishment.

He was last profiled on America's Most Wanted in 2005. But I wouldn't be suprised if the show profiles him again, which they likely will.

I'm not sure. I don't think they ever mentioned his mother on the segment. I watched this again today and I think its a good possibility William Fischer didn't live long after the murder. He was a cocaine addict and drank heavily...not exactly the makings for a long life span.

Bumping this one up.

I think with William Fischer's drug use, it is likely that he's dead by now. If not, I hope he can be found. My theory is that he was high on drugs at the time of the killings, hence the extremely violent nature of the crime. High and angry about being asked to pay his sickly son's medical bills, he snapped. I think Nancy was an afterthought to him, and he just quickly did her in so she couldn't talk.
