TV Does it bother you when you hear things about your favorite star?

I've been reading a lot about Jerry Seinfeld lately and I've learned a lot, but I've also realized that it bothers me when I read certain things about him; particularly about how rich he is. I can't figure out why it would bother me at all, but it does. I just finished a biography on Jerry that goes into great detail about how much money he made later on and so forth.

I just wondered if anyone feels uncomfortable finding out things about their favorite stars that they would rather not know. I would just want to know about Jerry's early beginnings and his projects and so forth and not about how much money he makes. What I really like to read about is his relationship with his wife and children. For some reason, that makes him seem more down to earth to me, rather than his millionaire status. Sure he makes an insane amount of money, but if you look at his early beginnings, he worked pretty hard to make a name for himself.

I found an article the other day from 2007 that was supposed to be about "Bee Movie" but the majority of it harped on how much money he makes.

I hear ya. It's hard when you grow to admire someone so much and you hear someone else just talking smack about them. It's like if someone said offensive things to my grandma, ya know???

Like John Ritter for example, whenever I would talk about how sad I felt when he died or just talking about Three's Company (I got criticized for "obsessing" with the show, too) some people were like, "Chelsea, you didn't even know him." or "That show is stupid. All he does is trip over himself."

Whatever!!!

Yeah...I've had things downright piss me off. Not people saying disparaging things, but stuff that's likely true that I consider bad behavior or something. Makes me mad at the star for doing it in the first place.

Oh I hate that! I get all excited talking about some celebrity and someone just crushes it! The person who said that to you about John Ritter sounds like an idiot. Of course he trips over himself! That was what made Jack Tripper so funny! I guess they've never seen anything else that John Ritter's been in, huh?

I have a friend at work who cannot stand Jerry Seinfeld so whenever I bring him up, she always has something critical to say. Who wants to hear that? I don't criticize her choice of TV shows or movies. I just sit there and listen and think to myself

That's what I said to my friend who said those kind of things. Nothing pisses them off more than when you say stuff like that right back at them.

Movie

I remember when my older sister lamented that Hollywood's glamour was gone.
In the 1940s and 1950s (and even the 1960s and '70s) we didn't know every
little detail about every star's personal life. Or, to put it another way,
John Lennon once said that he didn't believe in people putting stars on a
pedestal--because as soon as you put 'em up there, someone tries to knock
'em off!
