Can someone please tell me a good website that would have helpful information regarding New York?
My sister has been given a social studies project. Because she can only read at a Kindergarten to first grade level we are having to do the research for her. It surprised me that her teacher gave her and the other students this project because they are all special education students and function well below grade level. All the students have different states. No one was allowed to pick Texas since that's where they live. The information below is what I have to gather for her. Thanks. The capitol city The name of the governor The nickname for the state The state flower The state bird The state motto The size of the state The admission date of the state The number of colleges & universities The number and names of the amusement parks 10 famous people from the state Include at least one current event from a newspaper or magazine from the state Include a drawing or picture of the state flag and a drawing or picture of the state |

Wow, that's a lot of information for kids to have to gather, but it sounds like a great learning opportunity. I did something simliar in the 5th grade, but I ended up picking Alabama. I really wanted California... and Texas (where I lived at the time) was already taken. I think we just had to write a report on it, but there weren't any specifics.
I may check out that website too! Andrea |
