It's forgotten now, which is a shame. It was the second highest rated sitcom of the 1950s. Of course, having the time slot following "I Love Lucy" the first 3 years, and "The Danny Thomas Show" the 4th year (they were the highest rated sitcom each of those years) didn't hurt! For its 5th season, it was moved to a different night, and that was the end of that.
CBS showed reruns in the mornings for a few years, and that's where my memories come from. I thought it was hilarious, a kind of "I Love Lucy" for the geriatric set. Of course, I was a dumb kid, so what the heck did I know? I haven't seen it for 40 years now! I'd love to see it again. [Note: This message has been edited by TJ] |

I remember watching it in reruns too! I can't believe that I have found someone who remembers this show! Yes, 40 years is about right!
Do you remember Pete and Gladys too?------------------ Cupcake [This message has been edited by NEWHART FAN (edited 11-24-2001).] |

Yes, I do remember "Pete and Gladys." It was on CBS on Monday nights 1960-62.
I remember being somewhat disappointed in it. On "December Bride," Pete would talk about his wife Gladys, but we never saw her. When we finally did see her after 6 years of wondering, it was bound to be a letdown. Also, Cara Williams, who played Gladys, was touted as "another Lucille Ball." (She was a redhead, too.) This was a bad move; she couldn't possibly live up to those expectations! People would be bound to be disappointed, and they were. Interestingly, one of the co-stars was Gale Gordon. After this show, he did one year on "Dennis the Menace," and then became Lucy's nemesis for just about the rest of his career! |

The Cara Williams Show I believed caused a major stink resulting in CBS firing its own President of CBS in 1965.
Sherwood Schwartz in his book "inside Gilligan's Island" touched this subject briefly but didnt give much details about it. anybody know what happened? |

Does anyone know what happened to the cast? I'm wondering who is still alive, especially Cara Williams.

While I only slightly remember the show (I was born in 53) I do remember Dean Miller as he was my neighbor when I was growing up. Actually his parents lived next door to us and he was in and out during his career. As a little girl I remember being heart broken when he got married, I expected him to wait for me!! How naive we are as kids! As far as I know he's alive and well living in Ohio. His parents passed away years ago and then his Aunt and Uncle lived in the family home and when they passed on his brother and his wife moved in. His SIL still lives in the family home at this time.
I'd just been doing some research on him and found this board. He was a very handsome and nice guy all those years ago, I'm sure he's still a very nice looking guy and just as nice as ever.
