Default The Minnesota Twins can't win the big games.

This was the most pathetic performance by a starting nine I have EVER seen in a one-game playoff!

The Twins under Ron Gardenhire have had a habit of squandering great opportunities.

Let's recap:

2002- Minnesota upsets my A's in the ALDS, with a key hit coming from some guy named Dave Ortiz who has become a decent player in Beantown.

They win game 1 against the Angels, have home-field advatange, but lose the next 4, with their 3 losses in Anaheim especially humilating.

I'm sure KCK can fill in the details- were the Twins overmatched or did they have good chances?

2003 an- Win game 1 of the ALDS against the Yankees, fall apart like a house of cards in game 2-4. Stir and repeat a year later in 2004.

2006- How does a team fare in the postseason after three months of insanely red-hot baseball, an untouchable starter in Santana, league MVP, and a star-catcher who wins a batting crown? Naturally, they get swept by Oakland.

2008- Sweep the White Sox in a huge series, squander their momentum by losing TWICE to the pathetic Royals (they should have started Liriano- they could have clinched on Friday OR Saturday) and turn in the most pathetic hitting performance in a big game I have seen in years.

If Joe Torre and Terry Francona are the best big-game managers, then Ron Gardenhire is one of the worst. He can't win the big games and never takes advantage of opportunity.

You knows those commercials with 'Mr. Opportunity?' The Twins probably are oblivious to him.

I disagree, Ron Gardenhire should be commended. They lose Johan Santana and go into a rebuilding mode and still contend for the playoffs.

That game should have been played in Minnesota since they won the season series with the White Sox.

Yep.

They lose Santana and Hunter, are expected to be near the bottom of the A.L. Central, and damn near win it. Gardy is an EXCELLENT manager. There isn't a team in the major leagues that do more with very little payroll than the Twins.

It isn't Gardenhire's fault that Morneau has left dozens of batters on base and went 10 for his last 50+ at bats. Their hitters could not come through when it counted.

I think the Twins should have been in the playoffs since they won the season series and this game should not have been needed even. That being said it was a very good season for the Twins.

I was hoping the Twins would win too, dammit!

I'm sorry, but I don't like the White Sux for some reason.

And I like both. I have relatives that have been in Minnesota for awhile so if the White Sox ever suck, I would route for them and Cleveland in that division. And I have a friend in KC, so If they ever make it....lol. Anyways, Twins have a real good, young, athletic team but the White Sox have great players as well and sluggers.

I agree as well...He reminds me of a Jose Reyes, except he isn't a little sh*t and isn't annoying.
