Sad Janet Jackson Rushed to Hospital Before Concert

Link

NEW YORK - A representative for Janet Jackson says the singer has been hospitalized after falling ill shortly before a concert.

According to statement released by W&W Public Relations, the singer canceled her concert in Montreal on Monday after she "got suddenly ill" during her sound check and had to be rushed to the hospital just before show time.

The statement says Jackson is being monitored at the hospital and hopes to reschedule the show. No further information was given about Jackson's condition.

A phone call placed to W&W after hours went unanswered, and a representative did not immediately return an e-mail seeking more information.

Jackson, 42, is on a North American tour

Janet Jackson's field trip to a Montreal hospital was a brief one.

The R&B diva was rushed to Royal Victoria Hospital Monday after she "got suddenly ill during the sound check" prior to her scheduled concert in the city, her rep said.

According to Rebecca Burns, a spokeswoman for the hospital, the 42-year-old Grammy winner "was discharged after a few hours."

Burns declined to elaborate on the singer's condition, citing patient confidentiality rules.

In a brief statement, the singer's publicist did not address her ailment but said Jackson "is recuperating."

Additionally, shows scheduled for Wednesday in Boston and Thursday in Philadelphia have been scrapped.

Jackson is expected to resume her Rock Witchu trek Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.

Wow, I hope she's doing better. I'm seeing her on Tuesday.

I hear alot how touring can be exhausting, even for the performer, though all they have to do is perform, but maybe she was overdoing it. I'm not sure about her shows now but her shows used to be rather "active" and moved at a fast pace. Maybe she should've just taken it easy.

I hope she does better. I read on Perez that there's a rumor that LiveNation is pressuring Janet to pull the plug on this tour because ticket sales aren't what they used to be. But IMO.... $250 tickets don't cut it IMO.

Unfortunately, people tend to blame the performer for the ticket prices but it's actually the promoter who makes the prices. Still, I wish that SOMEBODY would step forward and say "Hey, those prices are too high, my fans shouldn't have to take out a loan just to see me live!"

My tickets cost $90 each total with tax and that stupid facility charge and we're still sitting in the 300 section!!

Oh well, I know what she looks like. I can always bring my binoculars, too.

that's why I respect people like Springsteen, Prince and Dylan. All three of them still top out around $75-100 and continue to sell out wherever they play. They know they could do more but they are living comfortably and realize it's a priviledge that they still can attract 20,000+ people a night as opposed to "well, they should be happy I'm playing for them" like Madonna.

Very well said. Too bad more singers/groups don't share that philosophy.

The highest priced tickets were $126. You'll say I'm biased but I don't find it unreasonable. lol

guess it depends the city you go to. I know in a lot of places, the "Golden Circle" seats were $250, which is three times what the top ticket to see her on the All For You tour was.

Well I can't fault her for it. It's expensive to put on a tour and I can't imagine how much more of the budget this time around is spent just on fuel.

well, I know that shows aren't cheap, but being vertically challenged (I'm 5'5), I set pretty high concert standards for myself and will only go if I have good seats because when you're as short as me, it can be hard to get a good view, yet to actually a good view of Janet, it's $250? no thanks. $126 is a little more reasonable, although I hate all the added service charges.

Janet Jackson has postponed three additional shows due to an undisclosed illness.

In an e-mail sent late Saturday, her publicist said that a doctor in Greensboro, N.C., advised the 42-year-old singer not to perform that night since it was "evident" she wasn't fully recovered from an illness that left her briefly hospitalized on Monday.
