Swingtown is jumping into bed with a new partner: Bravo. The network just acquired the exclusive cable rights to CBS' spouse-sharing, '70s-set drama, and plans to re-air it sometime this fall. (The edgy, ratings-challenged show, which finished its 13-episode run a few weeks ago, has a slim chance for renewal on CBS.) Although the move would seem to open the door for Tom, Trina, and the rest of the bell-bottomed gang to make another summer of love — and on cable, where many felt that the series belonged in the first place — Bravo says that it has no plans to produce additional seasons of Swingtown. Might supergroovy ratings this fall change anyone’s mind? Fans can only hope. This is great news! They said they have no plans to order new episodes, with high ratings for the repeats, it might give them a reason to give it a second season. While at the same time, CBS still hasn't cancelled it. I'd say this gives us a ray of hope. |

BRAVO ACQUIRES EXCLUSIVE CABLE RIGHTS TO "SWINGTOWN"
New York – September 29, 2008 – Bravo has acquired the exclusive cable rights for the original thirteen episode run of the critically-acclaimed drama series "Swingtown," from CBS Television Distribution. The announcement was made today by Frances Berwick, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Bravo Media. The cable network premiere of the series is scheduled for later this fall. "Swingtown" marks Bravo's newest scripted acquisition joining series runs of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "The West Wing." During its run on CBS (6/5/08-9/5/08), "Swingtown" averaged 2.069 million adults18-49 and 4.934 million total viewers. The series premiere of "Swingtown" on 6/5/08 delivered 3.618 million adults 18-49 and was the best broadcast summer premiere for a scripted series on network television since 2006. "Swingtown" traces two generations of friends and neighbors as they forge intimate connections and explore new freedoms during the culturally transformative decade of the 1970s. The series stars Jack Davenport, Grant Show, Josh Hopkins, Molly Parker, Lana Parrilla, Miriam Shor, Shanna Collins, Aaron Howles and Britt Robertson. The series portrays the ever-shifting "swing" of the pendulum that reflected the change in America's collective value system — morally, politically and socially. After moving to an upscale lakeside Chicago suburb in July of 1976, Susan and Bruce Miller must confront temptation in the form of their provocative new neighbors, Tom and Trina Decker, while not abandoning their old friends Janet and Roger Thompson. As the adult couples evaluate whether to embrace or avoid newfound personal freedoms, the curious Miller and Thompson children begin to discover and assert their own morality and sexual identities as they come of age in a world on the precipice of change. In a shifting social climate — defined by its music, fashion and style — everyone in "Swingtown" is confronted with personal choices, experimentation and varying attitudes. "Swingtown" is produced by CBS Paramount Network Television. Mike Kelley, Alan Poul and Carol Barbee are executive producers.
