As Hurricane Gustav loomed off the coast of Louisiana, thousands of impoverished people flocked into shelters, where some of them seemed unprepared to take care of their young children's basic needs, forgetting to bring along diapers or medicine.
That heartbreaking scenario inspired Louisiana Republican State Rep. John LaBruzzo to start thinking about ways to stem generational welfare, in which many welfare recipients have children who also end up dependent on government assistance, according to the representative. His idea -- giving $1,000 to poor women to undergo reproductive sterilization by Fallopian tube ligation -- is stirring up controversy among some medical professionals, who say that the proposal is offensive and smacks of long-discredited eugenics programs. LaBruzzo has also suggested other controversial ideas: paying poor men to get vasectomies and giving tax incentives for college-educated wealthy couples to have more children ------------------------------------------------- This could offend some women or help some it just depends on how you feel about it. What do you think? |

a vasectomy's a medical procedure, one that makes you half a man. remember when you twisted up your garden hose? well essentially that is the plan. you make a small incision in the scrotal skin, isolate the vas, and when you roll it in position with the towl clamp, then you snip the fibrous tissue. and you'll never have to wear a condom when you do it with your wife or anyone else you do it with. we promise not to tell. like that new hot chick at work. you know, the one who always has high beams under her ribbed white cotton t-shirt, but then stares daggers at you for checking her out. and it's like, why do you wear that if you don't want attention? but you know you shouldn't think that way because of the sexual harassment meeting you all had to go to. seriously, how lame was that? and you couldn't help but notice that the female lawyer running the seminar had a huge rack. like ridiculously huge for someone who has to talk about that kind of stuff. well, i guess that’s the definition of the word irony. say goodbye to manhood, say goodbye to babies, say goodbye to kids like meg. vacuum out your sack.

^^ WOW!
I think for some women this might be a good thing. If they wanted to have this done. I can see how it would offend a lot of people too though. To have that option out there, if they choose to do it, might be a good thing if that is what that person wants to do. |

reminds me of this poor girl (not poor as in money, but poor as in pity that people stated a rumor like that) when I was in seventh grade who was unpopular. I remember a few people said that her parents were going to get her "neutered" the next day, and what do ya know... the next day came and she was sick and didn't make it to school that day. Everyone teased her for being neutered for the rest of school, poor thing, LOL!!!

I'm going to be bold here and say that it's a good idea. If these parents are forgetting to provide basic needs for their kids in an emergency situation, then they have no business being parents. I am all for people not having kids because a lot of parents I see (young ones at my job) are always complaining that they don't have money and so forth to do anything.
The only thing I would see wrong with this is if they forced the women to get their tubes tied. Otherwise if the woman is okay with it, then it seems like a good idea. People start having kids and don't realize all the responsibility that goes along with it. It's not like you can give the kid back when you are finished! And I'm proud to say that I am never having kids and have never had any desire to have any. Andrea |

I think it is a good idea too. If you are a man or a woman on a low budget and know that you really don't want anymore, or anykids, why not? The option is there if you want it. If you don't want it, go on about your business.
