Kelsey Grammer has revealed he has received death threats in the past for his political beliefs.

"I've had death threats, stuff like that - mostly for my political views," says the former Frasier star, who is a Republican. "They say 'I should kill you'."

The actor, who plays a Republican President in new Kevin Costner movie Swing Vote, which hits UK cinema screens this weekend, also says some fans have had problems with his Christian Scientist faith.

"I do think people are entitled to different opinions but one of them was really adamant about it," he recalls. "It was about ten years ago. I'm trying to remember what it was that they were upset about. It was an odd thing from a weird person. I'm a Christian Scientist but I'm not a full blown practising one. I actually visit doctors and I do take medication.

"But a lot of the principles of my approach to faith are rooted in that, which is pretty much mind over matter - if you want to reduce it to one thing."

That is so pathetic. I always thought that the Republican party was the party of hate. Makes me sick was this country is coming to. Everyone should have a right to free speech, even if you don't agree with them. This America. Men and women have fought and died to protect our freeedoms.
