2XL was a large toy talking robot that also operated as an 8 track tape player. With this unit came an 8 track tape that supplied the voice of 2XL himself, who provided all kinds of topics, games and quizzes. He had big red eyes that flashed in sync with his dialogue.
2XL was given to me as a Christmas present when I was 9 years old back in 1979,and was commonly sold in toy stores during the late 1970s. Also available in toy stores during that period, was a variety of different 2XL 8 track tapes. In other words,2XL had his own 8 track series. Does anyone else remember 2XL? |

It wil probably be most cost effective for you to buy another machine; I think the Realistic (Radio Shack) brand of players can be found for reasonable prices.

I believe they made a new version of 2XL in the 90's and the new version now was a cassette player and functioned like the original 2XL but his voice came from the cassette tape that he came with. You could also buy more 2XL cassettes to expand his memory and the cassettes had different things for 2XL to do like talk about sports school and hobbies and you could even play a game show with a game show tape too. And the new version was made by Tiger and was a huge seller for Christmas 1994. I saw the new 2XL in a toy store when it came out and it looked cool but I never knew you could play music in these machines too
