What things do you remember being on TV over night over the years?
For example, the things I remember the most are:
1. Ms. Cleo infomercials.
2. The tests patterns when a station signs off for the night.
3. Censored In America comedy tape infomercials. (circa 2000)
4. Risque programming.
5. Paid advertisements.
6. The National Anthem being played when a station signs off for the night. (I dont really remember these, maybe vaguely.)
7. National Christian Children's Funds commercials. (These used to scare me.)

The National Anthem being played over local TV stations when they singed off, which was either 1 or 2am. Then the screen would go black until 6am.

I remember late night movies from being cheesy to creepy.

Some stations I would catch different TV show.

Is late night TV still all infomercials now???

The old movies they used to show.
When I was in high school they would show a marathon of good shows, so needless to say I was up really late on school nights. They would start out with All in the Family, then show something like Night Rider (or another old 80's show) then show a movie.
Test Patterns
The American National Anthem sign off
Nick at Night-when it first began they would show Patty Duke, Donna Reed, Mr. Ed, Car 54 Where Are You? Dobie Gillis...

Sigh... those were the days!

I can remember when a local station in my area used to show reruns of the show "HIGHWAY PATROL" on weeknights.

Late night creature features, repeats of canceled or older episodes that were syndicated TV shows, late night movies, catching glimpses of scrambled porno when the cable channels went off the air, Night Flight, the national anthem when the channel signed off, and watching pro wrestling.

Creepy commercials, mostly.

That and old movies - plus they would show the goofy monster movies on the weekends.

"Insomniac Theater" -- still shown on WLS - Channel 7 in Chicago! Mostly 1930s and 1940s movies, including Lucille Ball's old film roles.

I can remember, a local station in our area used to show old John Wayne movies on saturday nights, and they called it "THE JOHN WAYNE THEATER".
