Are all prison movies basically alike? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I liked the Shawshank Red. very much (and posted here about it); then got Caged a while back, Lockdown (which I saw last night) and the Green Mile (which I haven't seen yet).

They all seem so alike - anyone ?

Chocolate, I absolutely LOVE Shawshank Redemption and I also loved "Dead Man Walking". I don't know why, but I love prison movies! It's crazy, but I do! I didn't like "The Green Mile" that much or "Murder in the First" with Kevin Bacon, but in general I love prison movies. You're right, some of them are alike. I mean, there's not much you can do when people are in prison that would be unique.
Dead Man Walking almost changed my mind on the death penalty (but I'm sticking to my beliefs), but for a movie to even make me consider something different is amazing.
Which are your favorites?
A few years ago I went to San Francisco and one of my favorite things was when we visited Alcatraz. My husband didn't like it but I thought it was the coolest thing!
I must be nuts to like movies like that, though because I'd never want to be in prison or work in one!
