2012. It's every 4 years. I want to get married on Feb. 29th so if I get divorced in the first 4 years it would be like I was never married!!! Like any of you really wanted or needed to know that but hey thought I'd mention it while we were on the subject.

That's correct.

A good way to remember when the next leap year is to think of which year the summer olympics take place... the summer olympics ALWAYS occurs in a year that is the leap year.

Really? Yeah, I guess that's right! That's a great way to think about it! I love Leap Year. My grandmother predicted (I think it was back in 1993, when I first met my husband) that I would get married in a leap year and guess what?

I did! Got married in 1996! How cool is that?
Um... 1996 was a leap year, wasn't it?

Andrea

Yes, it was. That was when the summer olympics were held in Atlanta, GA. Then the biggest one was in 2000.

Another thing I've noticed. In an odd-numbered decade (50s, 70s, 90s), the first leap year is never in a year that starts with a "0." The first one is in a year that starts with "2." Also, only two leap years are observed in that decade (1952, 1956, 1972, 1976, 1992 and 1996). The even-numbered decades have the first leap year in a year starting with "0" and three leap years are observed that decade (1980, 1984, 1988). This is something that will NEVER change, so it'll be easy to remember.

We're in an even-numbered (or lack of evenness ) decade right now, and we've already observed all three leap years for this decade.

Hope that helps!

That's a good way to remember and also, it's always during a Presidential election year.

My uncle was born on leap day way back in 1964.

Haha, I have a cousin who was ALMOST a Leap Year baby... born on February 28, 1984. Several more hours and she would have been a February 29th baby.

After 2016, the next Leap Year is the year 2020. Did you mean 2020 Scoobiedoo?
