Does anyone recall about when and how the series' "Danny Boy" theme evolved from its early slow-tempo form into the big-band swing version most familiar to fans? [This message has been edited by Hugh (edited 08-13-2001).] |

The only shows I've seen all have the upbeat tempo theme. Was the theme different during the Jean Hagen/Margaret episodes?

Yes, the theme had a slower "Father Knows Best"-like tempo during the Jean Hagen-widower period on ABC. I am curious about the first Marjorie Lord season on CBS.

I've only seen the first CBS season in syndication with two different openings: one with Sherry Jackson, and one without (even though Sherry was in the episode -- they just used the wrong opening). The theme was the same as the theme for the later CBS seasons. They're probably using a standard opening for the syndicated episodes rather than using all the various openings that were used when the show originally aired.
