Alec Baldwin, as we and his daughter know very well, has never been one to mince words. His verbosity continues in his new book, 'A Promise to Ourselves,' in which he lashes out at the media and talks about how he nearly committed suicide, The New York Daily News reports.
Talking about the days after TMZ released a voicemail Baldwin left for his then-11-year-old daughter in which he called her a "thoughtless little pig," Baldwin says thoughts of suicide were always on his mind. "Driving up the Taconic Parkway, heading to an inn in the Berkshire Mountains, I began to think about what little town I would repair to in order to commit suicide," he says. "What semi-remote Massachusetts state park could I hike deep into and overdose there? When I returned to New York, the thought of jumping out the window of my apartment was with me every night for weeks." Obviously, he never acted on his impulses. He also has some choice words for AOL partner TMZ about the initial posting of the voicemail, which lead to the clip being aired on countless television news programs and radio shows. "I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child," Baldwin said at the time of the tape's release. "I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand." http://www.popeater.com/television/a...suicide/177800 |
