A Broken Family: Part 2!!

KK, since we may have exceeded our limit on my other post (Complete Fanfic----> A Broken Family, the one that's 46 pages...yeah, hehehe) we'll start part 2 here! So, here's to another 46 pages! LOL Here we go!

That Saturday John Sr. had invited Pat over for dinner. They would be able to get reaquainted, catch up, get to know Diane better, and find out about this little bundle of joy on the way.
Jinny and Casey were busy in the kitchen making ravioles and spaghetti when John Sr. walzed in.
"How's dinner coming?" he asked.
"Good, good," Casey smiled.
"Not that you would know, considering we're doing all of it," Jinny smirked.
"Oh, you know I've had a long week at work."
"What? And Cas and I haven't?" she shot.
"Oh, give it a rest," he replied, sitting in his easy chair and turning on the T.V.
"What a jerk," Jinny muttered under her breath.
Casey looked over at her and giggled.

Once the meal was prepared and everything set on the table, the Exsteads sat in silence, waiting for Pat and his wife.
"It'll be good to have him back," John Sr. said. "The Division's getting to be a bunch of us old geezers, we need some young blood in there again," he laughed.
Casey giggled.
"Did I tell you guys we're getting another Captain?"
"No, who?" Jinny asked.
"Marshall Davis. Connell is relocating to Florida. No one knows why, kinda the office gossip," the man chuckled to himself.
"Pretty hot gossip I bet," Jinny laughed.
"Very," Casey chimed in with.
"It was surprising they picked Davis. I mean Kate was looking ripe for the job."
"McAfferty?" Jinny clarified.
"Yeah."
"They'd let a woman be Captain?" Jinny asked. "We really are coming far," she smirked.
"Guess so. I wouldn't mind her being Captain, but some of the other guys would, I guess."
"Sure, them but not you," Jinny kidded him.
"Oh, of course," he laughed. Just then the bell rang.
"Must be them. Now guys be good."
"Aren't we always?" Casey laughed.
"I'll take the fifth on that one."

Jinny punched his arm lightly and John Sr. covered his head.
"No! Don't hurt me!" he said, in his girl voice.
"Oh brother..."
John Sr. answered the door and greeted them warmly.
"Hey, guys!" he exclaimed.
Pat looked as handsome as ever and Diane was the radiat beauty she'd been on the day of her wedding. With her dirty blonde hair pulled back in a casual ponytail and her deep red sweater and black pants, she was a vision of loveliness.
Pat went beyond lovely. He had some lose blue jeans on, and a nice black button down shirt which nicely brought out his blue eyes. He'd let his hair grow so it was a nice, loose length with room to blow easily in the wind.
He hugged John Sr. then shook Casey's hand.
"I don't think we ever met," he said. Casey smiled.
"Nope, don't think so."
"But it's Casey right?"
"Right," the little boy nodded.
"And, of course, Jinny," he said, aloud, hugging her, and as he bent down he kissed her cheek politely, then neared his lips to her ear where he whispered, "I need to talk to you later."

Sorry it's so late, I have been SOOOOO busy...anyway...thanks for replying...here's more!

She stopped stunned and wondering what he wanted to talk about. Did he really wanna 'talk'?
"Well, it's good to have ya back," John Sr. said, as Pat stepped back from Jinny.
She looked at him a little curious, but tried to act and look normal.
"It's good to be back," he said, sounding like nothing had happened.
"Well, we'd better eat, before the food gets cold. And Diane, it'll be nice getting to know you, too."
"Same here! Ive heard such stories about you, John, and everyone."
Jinny wondered if she knew ALL the stories about them...and her...

"Well, let's eat!" Everyone seconded that, so they all sat down and began the meal.
"You coming back to the ninth Division?" John Sr asked, as he swallowed some potatoes.
"Yup, should be. Cap's taking me back."
"And what's this about being pregnant?" John Sr. asked, laughing, as he nudged Diane's elbow.
She smiled. "We're having a baby and it's due in May," she said, obviously delighted.
"And was this planned or what?"
Casey giggled a little and whispered in Jinny's ear, "C'mon, they should know whenever you...ya know...there's always a possibility..." Jinny smirked and continued eating.
"Well, you know how it goes, John..." Pat said, laughing. He put his arm around Diane and the two cuddled. "When people get married, things happen..."
Diane looked away and laughed. "Oh, Pat..."
John Sr laughed, too. "Yup, these two are my proof." He smiled at Jinny and Casey who both rolled their eyes.
Casey giggled and whispered in Jinny's ear, "Ewww...could you ever imagine mom and dad....?" She shook her head and laughed, but the two fell silent at the thought of their mother.
"So what are you two up to?" Diane asked. "I've been wanting to get to know you guys." She smiled warmly at Jiny and Casey.
"We're good," they said in unison then laughed at their responses.
"Casey, what how old are you?" Pat asked.
"I'm 13," he said, shyly.
"So, that puts you in...ummm...what? Seventh grade?"
"Yeah."
"Oh, fun...you wanna be a cop like John?"
"Yeah."
"Jinny? How about you?" Diane asked.
"Huh?" she said, looking up. She'd been too busy eating to know what they'd been talking about.
"What grade are you in?"
"Oh, 10th...sophomore..."
"Jinny wants to be a cop, too," John Sr. said, sqeezing her shoulder.
"You do?" Diane remarked. "Wow, and your eldest son, John, is in training now, too, huh?"
"Yup, he's in the academy. Yeah, we're real proud of John," John Sr. said, smiling.
Jinny turned to Casey and whispered, "Proud? Of what? Him getting a girl pregnant, marrying and divorcing in one year before he's 21? Yeah, we're real proud of that!"
Casey put a napkin over his mouth to prevent him from spitting out his food he was laughing so hard.
John Sr. had heard them or could at least make an accurate guess as to their subject and he elbowed Jinny.
"WHAT?!" she yelled.
"WHY don't you eat your peas, Jinny," he said, sternly.
"I'm getting there, all right!!"
He breathed a final sigh to indicate their talk was over.
"Say...Jinny..." Pat started, feeling the tension. "How about you show me your room? I don't think I've ever seen it." He looked in her eyes indicating this was a perfect time to talk and they weren't actually going to look at her room.
"Oh, sure..." she mumbled, getting up.
"Casey, John, you get to know Diane. Tell them about where you went to college and what you do, honey."
"Oh, yes, what do you do? I don't think I ever heard," John Sr. replied.
Diane smiled and took a breath. "Well, this is gonna be a long story, so bear with me," she laughed. "I went my first year of college in Italy where I studied Italian and the Italian culture, I then ventured to Englad for a year..." and she continued.

Jinny got up and lead Pat to her room the whole time wondering, 'What is it he wants to talk about? Or does he even want to talk?'

Pat and Jinny could hear Diane telling about her college experiences all around the world as they walked down the hallway in silence to her room.
"Ummm...Pat?" Jinny started, wanting to know what this was about.
"Not yet," he said, quietly as they neared her room. "This it?" he asked, stopping.
She nodded and he opened her door for her then waited till they were both inside.
"Pat, what's going on?" she asked, as he closed the door behind him.
"Okay, I need you to not talk about us at all, okay? Diane doesn't know the kind of guy I used to be, and I don't want her to have to find out. I might lose her, if she knew."
"If she really loves you-" Jinny said, regretting that he'd gotten married and that she was saying it.
"No, Jin, just please, don't let her on to the fact that we've...you know..."
She stepped closer to him. "Yeah, but it was good, wasn't it?" she said, smiling sexily.
"Jinny, I can't do that stuff anymore. You're beautiful and very tempting, but I just can't."
She stepped closer and laid a hand on his chest. "Why not?" she whispered, looking in his eyes.
He smiled. "Jinny, I'm married. I love Diane and I couldn't do that to her. See this?" He put his left hand in front of her with his wedding ring on. "That's why I can't."

She took his hand in hers and brought it to her cheek where she rested the side of her head on it.
"Yes, you can," she said, sweeping her hand behind his neck and letting it run through his hair. He took a step back, but that let her take a step forward. She stepped a little to far, because he leaned too far back and fell onto her bed. She grinned. 'Right where I want him,' she thought.

Keep in mind, the best is yet to come...hehehe...
