I hate the title buts thats all that came to me.
This is the first TD fan fiction that Im writing by myself.I hope you like it.

Chapter1

Teddy walks into The Division and sneeks up behind Jinny.Teddy places his
hands over Jinny’s eyes.”Guess”said Teddy in a high pitched voice to fool Jinny.
“Um....Well let me think here.”said Jinny as she lifts her hands over her head
and feels Teddy’s face.”Mmm...Well either your a giant chipmunk with a slight
mustache or... you could be Teddy.”said Jinny.”Your second guess would be
correct.”said Teddy while moving his hands.Jinny turns around and kisses
Teddy.”Uh.....Hum.”said Kate as she clears her throat.”Jinny and Teddy brake
the kiss then Jinny turns around.”Go to lunch Inspector.”said Kate as she heads
toward her office.

Jinny smiles a quick smile then turns to Teddy”So where are you taking me?”
asked Jinny picking up her coat and purse.”Well I thought we’d try that new
Mexican restaurant that just opened up.“Which one is that?”questioned Magda.
“Little Mexico.”said Teddy.” Thats been opened for a month now.”said Jinny.”Well its
new to me.”said Teddy in a sweet voice.”Well then lets go.”said Jinny as the two
of them leave.

“Hi im Lacey May I take your order.”said a young college girl.”Yes I’ll have the #1
with an ice tea.”said Jinny then hands Lacey the menu.”And for you sir.”said
Lacey.Teddy doesn’t say anything.”Teddy.”said Jinny.Teddy just stares off into
space.”Um..Teddy dear.”said Jinny.”Huh?”said Teddy.”Look I dont have all day
and my shoes are killing me.”said Lacey.”Um...Jinny I just remembered I have to
be back at work in ten minutes.”said Teddy then stands up.”What about
lunch?”asked Jinny.”I...Um...Call you.”said Teddy as he leaves.

Jinny walks into The Division with a strange look on her face.She walks over to
her desk and sits down.Magda walks over and stands next to Jinny’s desk.”So
how was lunch?”asked Magda.”What lunch?We got there looked at the menus I
ordered Teddy stared off into space,Then made up some excuse and left.”said
Jinny.”Thats strange,He was fine when I saw him.”said Magda.”I know,I wonder
why he’s acting so strange?”questioned Jinny.

It has been 15 years to this day that she left my life leaving nothing but a note
and a picture behind.Thought Teddy to himself in his parked car.I wish that
lady’s name was not “Lacey” that took our orders today, That name brings back
old painful memories.Thought Teddy.

*[FlashBack 15 years ago]*
“Lacey,What are your plans 15 years for now?”asked Teddy to Lacey a 17 year
old girl with light brown hair and bright blue eyes.”Well I don’t really know.”said
Lacey.

Teddy stands up from the pourch swing then gets down on one knee and pull out
a small box and opens it to reveal a diamond ring.”Lacey Rachel Madison,Will
you be part of my future and Marry me?”asked Teddy.”Oh Teddy the ring is
beautiful,But...I cant,Were still in High School.”said Lacey.Teddy stands up then
sits down on the pourch swing next to Lacey.”We can wait till after we finish High
School,We only have five months left till we graduate.”said Teddy.”I...I..”said
Lacey as Teddy cuts her off.”Think about it and let me know,And while you’er
thinking you can ware this ring.”said Teddy as he slips the ring on Lacey’s
finger.”I’ll think about it.”said Lacey allready knowning what her answer was
going to be.”And even if you say no you can still keep the ring.”said Teddy.”I
love you Teddy.”said Lacey.”I love you too Lacey.”said Teddy as they Kiss.

Teddy wakes up that next moning to the sound of the door bell ringing.He walks
downstairs and opens the door to see no one there.He looks down at the ground
to see an envelope which read “Teddy”.Teddy bent down and picked it up.He
opened it up to see a picture of Lacey and a letter,Teddy glanced at the picture
then read the letter.

My Dear Sweet Teddy,
I love you so much and what I have to say is the hardest thing I have ever done.
Im leaving,I cant tell you where or why,I love you so much and I really would
have loved being your wife,Who ever marrys you will be the luckiest girl alive.
You are a kind sweet man,And I love you.Please dont forget me,I know I will
never forget you.Here is a picture so you never forget me.
I’ll ware your ring around my neck forever.Take care.

Love always,
-Lacey Rachel Madison.

Teddy looks at the picture then puts the letter and picture back in the envelope
then puts it in his pocket and walks inside.

*[End FlashBack]*

Every year I read the same note and look at the same picture,And I think about
the same things.Did she meet someone and was to scared to tell me?Was she
dying?Did she kill herself and this was her way of saying good-bye?Thought
Teddy to himself.Teddy takes the keys out of his engine and opens his car door.
“I wish I knew.”said Teddy as he stands up and slams the door behind him as he
heads for his office building.

Chapter2

“Exstead.”said Jinny answering her cell phone.”Jinny its Teddy.”said Teddy from the other line.”What happened today?”asked Jinny.”Could you come over to my place to talk?asked Teddy.”Um...Im kinda tied up at work,What about 9pm.”said Jinny.”Nine’s fine.”said Teddy.”Then I...Um..Will see you then.”said Jinny then turns her cell phone off.”Taking personal calls at work...I might just have to tell the Captain.”said Cd kidding with Jinny.”Very funny.”said Jinny.”Was that Teddy?”asked Magda.”Yes it was Teddy,He wants me to meet him at his place around nine.”said Jinny.”Thats good,At least he wants to talk.”said Magda.”I
know,I just wish I knew why.”said Jinny then gets back to her paper work.

Teddy sat alone in his small apartment living room waiting for Jinny to show up.”I thought she’d be here at nine,Its 9:05,Where is she?”Questioned Teddy.Teddy stands up from his sofa and walks into the kitchen and opens the refrigerator and takes out can of Coke then walks over to the sofa.Just as he’s about to sit down he hears a knock at the door.”Coming!”called Teddy as he sets his soda down on the coffee table then goes and to answer the door.

Teddy answers the door and Jinny walks into the apartment.”Sorry im late I had
alot of paper work to get done.”said Jinny.Teddy closes the door then the two walk over and sit down on the sofa.”You look very handsome tonight.”
Said Jinny flirting .”Well so do you beautiful but I thought I asked you over here to talk?”questioned Teddy.”I know but we can talk later.”said Jinny as she kisses Teddy.They kiss for about a minute then Teddy brakes the kiss.”We can always talk later.”said Teddy as the two lean in and kiss.

The next morning was a Saturday and it came early with the sound of someone knocking on the door.Teddy wakes up a bit and looks over to see Jinny still sleeping.Teddy gets out of bed slowly so he does not wake Jinny but fails when he trips over one of her boots.”Ouch!”exclaimed Teddy.”Teddy?”asked Jinny as she sits up in Teddy’s bed.”Im fine,You go back to sleep.”said Teddy as the knocking gets louder.Jinny stands up and puts on Teddy’s bathrobe and walks to the door while Teddy gets dressed.

“Coming!”called Jinny as she walks into the Living room and over to the door,
Jinny opens the door to see a lady about mid 40’s with fancy clothes and short red hair.”Can I help you?”asked Jinny.”Yes does a Theodore Blumenthal live here?”asked the lady.”Teddy!”Called Jinny.”Im here.”said Teddy.”Im Maggie Walker from the department of child welfare from Queens New York.”said Maggie.”I think you might have the wrong apartment building,This is California,
And I don’t have any kids.”said Teddy.”I know im in the right state,And you are Theodore Blumenthal right?”questioned Maggie.”Yes but I don’t….”said Teddy as Maggie cuts him off.”Mr.Theodore Blumenthal you have a chid.”said Maggie.
Teddy and Jinny look at each other in total shock.

Chapter 3

“C..C…Come in.”said Teddy hardly able to talk.”Thank-you.”said Maggie as she walks into the apartment.Teddy closes the door the follows Maggie into the living room.”Please sit down.”said Teddy.Maggie sits down in a chair then looks through her brief case.”I think im going to go and change.”said Jinny then leaves the room.

“Would you care for something to drink?”asked Teddy.”No thank-you.”said Maggie.Teddy sits down on the sofa and looks over at Maggie.”You said that I have a child.”said Teddy.”That’s right.”said Maggie pulling out a file.”Well…How old is he/she,Who’s the mother,Is it a boy or a girl?”asked Teddy.”First I need to ask you some questions.”said Maggie.”Alright.”said Teddy.”Are you married?”asked Maggie.”No I’m not.”said Teddy.”What about that lady that answered the door?”questioned Maggie.”I’m his girlfriend.”said Jinny walking into the living room.”Well then since this does not really concern you,Would you mind leaving?”asked Maggie.Jinny pulls out her badge.”Yes I would mind.Inspector Jinny Exstead S.F.P.D.”said Jinny.”You may stay.”said Maggie.Jinny puts her badge in her pocket then sits down on the sofa next to Teddy.”Have you ever been married?”asked Maggie.”No.”said Teddy.”How old are you?”asked Maggie.”I’m 33,I was born in 1968.”said Teddy.”Do you have any living relatives?”asked Maggie.”Yes I have a Mother,Father,A few Aunts,A couple of uncles and one grandmother.”said Teddy.”When you were younger say around 17/18 were you serious with anyone?”asked Maggie.”Yes I was,She was the sweetest,and prettiest girl…”said Teddy then stops when Jinny nudges him in his side with her elbow.”Uh Hum.”said Jinny.”clearing her throat.”At the time.”said Teddy.”Well that’s better.”said Jinny.”I met her when I was 15,She had just moved in next door to me,She was 14 soon to be 15 and I knew that she was the one for me at the time.She started to go to my High school,Then we started dating,We kept on dating till our senior year in High school,Then we took our relationship to a new level,We started doing what most couples were doing I Think you know what I’m talking about.”said Teddy.”Yes I think do,Continue please.”said Maggie.”Well then one cool night when we were sitting on my front porch swing I got up then I pulled out a box with a ring in it and asked her to marry me.The next morning I found letter with a picture of her on my porch,The letter said that she had to leave and that she could not tell me why,She said she loved me and would ware my ring forever.That was the last I heard of her,Her family moved the next day and that was it she was gone.”said Teddy.”You never told me this.”said Jinny alittle shocked.”I planed to last night but you had other plans.”said Teddy.”Yeah but you liked my plans.”said Jinny.”It was a great plan.”said Teddy.”This is not One Life to Live,or any other soap opera.”said Maggie.”Sorry.”said Jinny.”What was the girl’s name?”asked Maggie.”Lacey Madison.”said Teddy.”The reason Lacey left was because she was pregnant.”said Maggie.”P…P…Pragnant.”said Teddy hardly able to speak.”Yes and with your baby.”said Maggie.

Jinny waves her hands in front of Teddy’s face to brake the shock,When that doesn’t work she snaps her fingers in his face.”Teddy!”yelled Jinny.”Huh?”questioned Teddy when he woke up.”I know this is a bit of a shock for you.”said Maggie.”A bit,This could be life changing,……this isn’t life changing is it?”questioned Teddy. “Well in a way it could be.”said Maggie.”In what way?”asked both Jinny and Teddy at the same time.

”Let me get to the point of my visit.”said Maggie.”Please do.”said Jinny.”Lacey was killed by a drunk driver less then a year ago,Her daugther now 14 has been living with a close friend of the family who is 85 and is no longer able to keep track of a teenager,I and someother people have been going through some paper work and we came across her daughter’s birth certificate on it there were to signatures Lacey’s and your’s.”said Maggie.”Mine?I didn’t even know she was Pragnant let alone where she was,Or if she was alive or dead!How could I sign something I didn’t know about?”Questioned Teddy.”We questioned her friends and daughter but we could not find a thing so we where down to two things either she put a fake name down,or she forged your signature.We started to look for you and we finely found you so we think.”said Maggie.”You think?”questioned Jinny.

”You have 3 choices,1 you can have a DNA test to prove you are the girls father then you can meet her and adopt her or choose not to meet her at all.2 You can meet her and get to know her then have the test and either adopt her or send her back with me,3 You can forget this ever happened and I could have her in a foster home with one quick phone call and we can live happily ever after.Your choice.”said Maggie.”I cant send her away like that!Are you insane!This could be my daughter,My flesh and blood!Im not sending her away,I want to meet her and get to know her.”said Teddy.”Alright She is staying with me at the Comfort Inn downtown,I’ll have her here tomrrow.”
Said Maggie.

“Is there anything we need to know about her,Like her name,and any other problems?”asked Jinny.”Her name is Kayley Theodora Madison,She prefers Kayley,She turned 14 September 9th,She is somewhat depressed sence her mom died,She is taking meds for that,And she hates people who drink more then a glass of whine now and then.”said Maggie.

“How depressed is she?”questioned Teddy kinda worried like.”Not much,She hides it very well.”said Maggie.

“About the drinking part….Would she want to oh say…..kill someone who….goes to the bar evey night and drinks….say half if not a whole bottle of whine.”said Jinny.”You’d be dead and barried with in 5 minutes.”said Maggie.”Enough said,Teddy let me know how it goes.”said Jinny then stands up.Teddy pulls her down.”Sit I’ll need you.”said Teddy.”Get rid of all beer,Whine,and anything else like that but one or two bottles of whine.”said Maggie.”Got it.”said Teddy.

“About the Depressed part,Your best bet would be to leave her alone when shes like that,or else one of you will get too close and it will be harder to part with her if your not the father.”said Maggie.”Ok.”said Teddy.

“Now you have 2 months to make up your mind,During that time DNA tests will be done,Court dates will be held,You and her will have group and private mettings with two counselors and myself.Also she will not be in school,we took care of all of that two months ago,Well is everything alright with you?”asked Maggie as she and Teddy stand up and walk toward the door.”Fine by me.”said Teddy as he opens the door.”Great we’ll be here tomrrow at 8am sharp.”said Maggie closing the door behind her as she leaves.

Chapater 4
Teddy and Jinny wake up early the next morning to make sure everything is in order for when Kayley arrives.”Jinny did you make up the guest room yet!”Yelled Teddy from the kitchen.”Yep its all ready,Did you get rid of all the whine and beer bottles!”yelled Jinny from the other room.”All done!”yelled Teddy.

Jinny walks into the kitchen and over to Teddy.”You wouldn’t happen to have one can of beer left over…..Would’ya?”asked Jinny in a sweet voice.”Nope I poured all the beer down the sink.”said Teddy.”Bad Boyfrined,Bad Teddy……”said Jinny getting cut off by Teddy as he kisses her.Jinny brakes the kiss.”……..good kisser.”said Jinny then kisses him again.The doorbell then rings ending their kiss.”Tell whoever it is were not home.”said Jinny.”Jinny!”Yelled Teddy.”……Well….”said Jinny.

Teddy walks over to the door and opens it.”Teddy,Good Morning.”said Maggie.”Good Morning also.”said Teddy.”Teddy this is Kayley.”said Maggie pointing to a teenaged girl about 5’2/5’3,With Dark Brown hair and Blue eyes,holding two large duffle bags and one large backpack.”Hello.”said Kayley a bit nervous.”Come in.”said Teddy.Maggie and Kayley walk into the apartment,
Teddy closes the door behind them.

“I can’t stay too long I have to be at the airport in 20minutes,But here this is for you.”said Maggie then hands him a small pink bag.”Wait!”yelled Kayley making sure Maggie doesn’t leave yet.”What hun.”said Maggie.Kayley pulls Maggie aside so Teddy and Jinny wont over hear the conversation.

“How long will I have to be here?”asked Kayley.”Two months.”said Maggie.”If he has a job and I have no school what will I be doing when he’s not home?”asked Kayley.”Whatever you want I guess.”said Maggie.”This could be fun,He He.”said Kayley.”Don’t burn the place down.”said Maggie.”I wont,Is he really my father and is she my stepmom?”asked Kayley.”Im not sure if he’s your father or not,and They are not married.”said Maggie.”Oh how fun.”said Kayley sarcastically.”Now I have to go.”said Maggie.”Fine.”said Kayley.

Maggie and Kayley walk over to Teddy and Jinny.”I’ll be going now,Kayley don’t give them a hard time.”said Maggie.”Bye.”said Kayley as Maggie leaves and closes the door behind her.

“Well….Kayley why don’t I show you where you’ll be sleeping.”said Teddy.Kayley bends down and picks up her bags.”I guess.”said Kayley following Teddy into the guest room.

Kayley walks into the guest room and throws her bags on the bed.”You can either put your clothes into the closest,or in the dresser draws.”said Teddy.”Kay.”said Kayley.”You can unpack later,For now just leave everything where it is we have some things to take care of first.”said Teddy.”Like what?”questioned Kayley.”Jinny’s job.”said Teddy.”Whos Jinny?”asked Kayley.”That lady out there.”said Teddy.”Oh,Are you two living together?”asked Kayley very up front.”For now we will be living together.”said Teddy.”Oh.”said Kayley.”Well we better get going.”said Teddy.”Kay.”said Kayley.

Teddy,Jinny,and Kayley walk into The Division and over to Jinny’s desk.”Um……
Kayley why don’t you sit here while Teddy and I go talk to the Captian.”said Jinny.Kayley plops her purse down on Jinny’s desk then she plops herself into Jinny’s chair.”Fine.”said Kayley.Jinny leaves Teddy and Kayley and walks over to the Captian’s office.

Jinny knocks on the door.”Come in.”said the Captian.Jinny opens the door then walks into the office closing the door behind her.

“Isn’t this your day off?”questioned the Captian.”Nice to see you too.”said Jinny sarcastically.”Well.”said Kate”I was wondering if I could have Tuesday’s Wednesday’s,Friday’s,and Sunday’s off for the next two months.”said Jinny a bit nervous.Kate takes off her glasses and studys Jinny for a few seconds.”May I ask why?”asked the Captian.”See….Um..Just a second.”said Jinny.Jinny turns around and opens the door,She looks around till she spots Teddy,Jinny lifts her hand to signal Teddy to come over.

Teddy walks over to Jinny,Jinny whispers into Teddy’s hear that she want him to tell the Captian why she cant work those day’s.Teddy shakes his head yes then they walk into the Captian’s office.

Kayley looks around the office to see no one else there.”Cool.”said Kayley then opens her purse and takes out her Cd payler,She put her headphones on then turns it on.Kayley picks up two of Jinny’s pencils and starts to tap them on Jinny’s desk while mouthing the words to a Dixi Chicks song.

“Magda and Cd walk into the Division laughing about a case Cd was working on.”I cant belive the guy would do that?”laughed Magda.”Guys will be guys.”said Cd.

Kayley taps louder on the desk and starts to sing to the song.”R R Ready to Run,All we wan’a do is have some F…Fun.”sung Kayley some what off key.

Magda stops laughing and walks over to Kayley and taps her on the shoulder.
Kayley turns around,She takes her headphones off and puts them around her neck.”Yeah.”said Kayley mad they stoped her singing.”Your not Jinny.”said Magda.“Im smart enough to know that.”said Kayley rudly.”So you know Jinny.”said Cd.”Yeah Kind’a,I met her and Teddy an hour ago when I was droped off,I’ll be staying with them for 2 months.”said Kayley.”Are you related to Jinny or Teddy?”asked Magda.”Teddy I think.”said Kayley.”Why wouldn’t you know?”asked Cd.”Teddy and I haven’t had a DNA test yet to prove if he’s my father or not.”said Kayley then puts her headphones back on.

“So what your saying is Teddy could be the father of Kayley,and that you need Tuesday’s,Wednesday’s,Friday’s,and Sunday’s off for the next two months so that when Teddy is working Tuesday, Wednesday’s,Friday’s you can watch Kayley since she is not in school while she is staying with you two.”said Kate.
“Yes,So can I?”asked Jinny.”Fine BUT,Monday,Thursday,and Saturday you will be working from 8 to 8 and set your alarm clock for 6:30am so you are here on time.”said Kate.”I will,Thanks Cap.”said Jinny thrilled that the Captian let her have those days off.Jinny and Teddy walk out of the office.

Magda and Cd walk over to Teddy and Jinny right when they come out of the office.”Teddy I heard you could be a father.”said Cd.”You’ve been talking to Kayley.”said Teddy.”She didn’t tell us her name.”said Magda.”Well if you talked to that girl over there then that’s Kayley.”said Teddy pointing to Kayley.”That’s her.”said Cd.”Im hungry,Teddy lets grab a bite to eat.”said Jinny.”Fine with me.”said Teddy.
