She scrimed the telephone book twenty times to make sure she got the precise person she wished to find. She pulled her beat up car to the crib, with everything inside of her yearning for her to leave immediately. Sluggishly she opened the door and stepped out. She was wearing old torn and ratty clothing, but she had no choice she was a run away and there was nothing she could do to help herself. She strolled into the station and somberly walked to the homicide division. Tentatively she pushed the swinging door. And suddenly she saw who had made her drive from Denver, Colorado to San Francisco: Jinny Exstead.

Her heart started beating rapidly for anticipation of the few minutes that were going to follow. She sauntered to Jinny and in a stern and enraged voice she asked: Are you Jinny Exstead.
Jinny jumped when she heard the fuming voice, while everyone else in the division quickly turned to see what the situation was. Jinny looked the girl over and came to her face. She could not believe what she was seeing. She had to blink the girl into focus a couple of times. Then the entire division saw Jinny leap to her feet and embraced the outsider.
Magda overtaken with curiosity walked to her friend and ponder: Jinny what is going on?
Jinny was so exhilarated that it took her a couple of seconds to process Magda’s question.
Jinny: Oh, Magda I would like you to meet my niece Brandee.

Brandee: Don’t worry Jinny I know how invisible I am.
Jinny recognizing the hurt in Brandee’s voice quickly turned to her and asked what was wrong?
Brandee: Oh nothing at all, I am peachy.
Jinny knowing Brandee was not telling the truth just nodded her head when the Captain interrupted her.
Kate: Jinny what is going on here? She asked in a demanding voice.
Jinny: My niece came in from a… Where are you living now?
Brandee: Thanks for introducing us Jin. Hi I am Brandee Exstead, from Colorado. Yeah I was just passing bye and I thought I would say hi. Brandee Said in a fast mumble.
Kate: Oh well nice to meet you. And she walked back into her office and closed the door. Slowly she leaned back against the wall, she didn’t know if it was because she was an Exstead or what, but there was something she didn’t like about that girl.

Sorry it took so long to post.

Jinny: Well, um have you talked to your dad yet.
Brandee in a very solemn tone she replied: What the hell do you think?
Magda feeling the tension arising in the room, quickly interjected and asked if they wanted to go to lunch.
In unison both Brandee and Jinny glanced at their watches and stated: It’s only 10:30.
Magda: well it is never to early for Italian.
Jinny: Okay, I’ll drive.

At the restaurant.

Magda: So, Brandee how old are you?
Brandee: Sixteen.
Magda: What part of Colorado are you from?
Brandee: Denver.
Magda: Do you live with you mom?
Brandee: Yeah, her and the wonderful David.
Magda: Whose David?
Brandee: The ******* my mom married.
Jinny: I take you don’t like.
Brandee, extremely sarcastic replies: Does it show, damn!

30 minutes later they arrive back at the division.
Kate promptly goes to meet them and bellows for Jinny to come into her office.
Jinny sluggishly closes the door behind her and asks: What’s up?
K: How well do you know your niece?
J: Well, I haven’t seen her in over tens years, the only reason I recognized her was because she looks well like me. Why do you care?
K: She seemed awkward to me so I ran her name, Jinny she is a runaway.
J: What John never told me?
K: Well she has only been missing a week. So my guess is, is that she up and left drove strait here and has been looking for you.
Jinny just sat there she could not believe what the captain was telling her.
J: Well, ah, what do we do?
K: Go get her and bring her in here and hen we will have her call her mom in Colorado.
J: Yeah, okay.
Jinny slowly turned around and walked out of the captain’s office and noticed Brandee was no longer there.
M: Is something wrong?
J: Where is Brandee?
M: She left a couple minutes ago.
Jinny raced down the stairs and out the doors, but Brandee was long gone.
J: Dammit.

Jinny slowly entered back through the division's door to see Magda's pondering eyes.
The Captain was standing in the doorway of her office when she asked: Where is Brandee?
J: She is long gone.
C: Was she driving?
J: Yeah, a midnight blue 67 mustang.
M: Nice car for a 16 teen year old.
J: Her mom is rich and the guy she remarried to is even richer.
C: Yeah, well I will send out a message for the uniforms to look for her.
J: Thanks, I better call John.

On the phone.

J: Hey John I really need to talk to you.
Jh: What kind of trouble are you in now?
J: I not in any trouble, and thanks for the confidence in me.
Jh: Well. Then why do you want to talk to me?
J: Have you talked to Shannon lately?
Jh: No, why would I talk to her?
J: Possibly because you had a child with her and that child ran away a week ago.
Jh: What the hell are you talking about?
J: Brandee ran away a week ago, and came out to me today.
Jh: Is she still there?
J: No she ran off, and now we can’t find her.
Jh: Well, I guess I will go look for the damn kid?
