Default Should They Have Had A Happy Days Movie?

Should they have had a HD movie and would it have worked? What I mean by that is, do you think all the actors/actresses in the show would of signed on to it/would they have gotten everybody up for it? What do you think a HD movie should be about if they had one back in the '70s/early '80s around when the show was in syndication? I know a lot of people say American Graffiti was sort of like the Happy Days movie they never had. Ron Howard was in the film, along with HD spin-off star Cindy Williams (from Laverne & Shirley). John was definitely the Fonzie. Riding around in his yellow deuce coupe, Milner had the swagger and coolness similar to the Fonz's on HD. Richard Dreyfuss' character Curt reminded me of Richie. The movie was basically the gang's last night of high school together before they all go away for college, if you haven't seen it. The place where they all hang out is similar to Arnold's, a drive-through, teen hang out spot and Toad is similar to a Potsie Webber. Anyways, what do you think?

Thumbs up

I loved American Graffiti and I always thought that it was the jump-start for Happy Days, but aparantly not. I think you're right. It was the movie version of Happy Days.

I really don't think that a HD movie would work now, being that everyone on that show could have grand kids by now! Seriously, though... they'd have to get kids to play the Happy Days characters and it just wouldn't be the same.
However, back then it probably would have been a big hit; especially if Fonzie was the star of it!

Yeah- I meant if they should of had one in the 70s-80s, during the show or right after the last season ended lol. Cause yeah, they'd be a little older lol. No, I def. agree they would of needed all the same characters.

I disagree.
When a Show is over, it's over. I'm not sure if a Movie would have worked. Maybe. Maybe not. But I don't think it would have been a good Idea. Shrugs.

True. I'm 50/50 on the subject, so I don't know if it would of been a good idea or great or not. I'm thinking if they would of had one and the best time would of been in between the show, if that makes sense or is possible. Was possible I should say. In between filming, but it would be hard because it takes awhile to develop, come up with and go through a film. Coming up with scripts, getting all the characters to pitch in, and to pitch in ideas when they finally agree to do the project. Get a director, writers, all the guys you need to put together the movie, outside of the characters & actors. Plus actors in between filming shows do other things. Gigs, go on other shows, go on reality & talk shows and relax. So it depends. Filming would take a huge chunk away from everybody's lives and out of HD in general, so they'res a lot of perspectives you have to keep in mind.

it would be nice to see the characters again, but it would be completely unrealistic to think that there would be any way that they could have done it that would've done justice to the series, and if they can't do it right they should just forget about it and just give the fans a few more reunion specials.

I think it would be great if they did a reunion TV movie, but I would only watch it if they have a decent script and most of the cast agrees to return. Most reunion movies end up being really, really BAD due to poor scripts.

I liked the Happy Days Secret special on ET, that was almost like a behind the scenes movie on HD, all about it and the stuff you didn't directly know about.

Yep, CBS played that movie quite a few times in order to capitalize on Henry Winkler's new found fame, along with Sly Stallone, fresh from "Rocky" success.
