LES: "Hi. This is Les Nessman, standing outside the Pinedale Shopping Mall with an on-the-spot report. The place is buzzing with excitement as news is coming through of another spectacular event that is hoped will be remembered for a long time to come..."
HECKLER: "Like that turkey drop, you creep?" LES: "...er, um, er... and as I was saying, the place is buzzing with excitement, and the crowd is curious but well mannered as we await - and this might be it! Yes, this might be it! A helicopter has just come into view, and it's heading this way! It's got something trailing behind it, a banner, I think. Let's see if I can read what it says... It's coming closer... 'Happy'... '30th'... 'Anniversary'... 'W'.... 'K'.... 'R'.... 'P'....!" HECKLER: "You mean it's 30 years since you started?" LES: "Er, yes, yes, it is. I really didn't know it had been so long!" HECKLER: "So Carlson ain't gonna be dropping turkeys this time?" LES: "Er, no. Not after the roasting he got from all those animal rights people! And the court orders against him forbidding him to go anywhere near a live turkey ever again!" As you'll know, Thursday September 18th will be the 30th anniversary of America's Favourite Radio Station. How will you mark the event? Myself, I plan to watch the pilot on DVD (commentary version) then perhaps the 50th anniversary special, then perhaps a couple of episodes. I'm glad I got my series 1 DVDs just in time. |

Maybe I'll fix a turkey dinner with all the trimmings -- LOL -- while watching a few favorite WKRP episodes.
Lester, thanks for posting -- that was hilarious! |

I love that!!!! I think a special Thanksgiving treat is to watch "Turkeys Away" and The Bob Newhart Show's "Over The River & Through the Woods" back-to-back. Those are both CLASSICS!!!!!

I think I'll keep the commentary version of Turkeys Away for Christmas. I saw it mentioned on a website that for Christmas of 1981, Gary Sandy taped a special intro, in the DJs' booth set, for a re-run of Turkeys. He even alluded to the madness of WKRP: "Naturally, it's Christmas, so here's a Thanksgiving episode!" But said intro was dropped from syndication prints.
