What if another person was on the boat or was stranded on the island throughout the whole show? What traits could they have to best help the group get off? Post what you think the member would be like, how they would act and if they would get along with other members of the group and if they would have any love interests with the original 7.

Another female character to even it out would have been nice. She could have been a combination of MaryAnn & Ginger. She would probably get along with everyone except Ginger who would see her as competition. She might consider the professor for a love interest.

I always thought Mary Ann and the professor should of- you know lol. But yeah, another woman would be competition for her. Another guy, that's muscular is great. Because the professor was smart, intelligant but wasn't really built. He was muscular, and not as skinny as Gilligan but a real strong guy could help carry things along with the skipper. Plus, the millionaire was too old, he was hilarious but I mean, having a strong guy would make up for that.

I'm sure that you guys already know that there was supposed to have a fouth season but, without Ginger? She was going to be rescued but,not the others, strange isn't it?But,on the second episode, two young ladies were supposed to get stranded.I think that the 2 girls of pilot would have been perfect.

^really Celine? I always thought the idea of two secretaries were stupid. From the info I accumulated, the two who were to replace Ginger were suppossed to be best friends from a band or something I thought. I guess they were going to attempt to cover the entertainment genre of people per say... I thank the heavens in some ways that we never got to the fourth season.
I know this is totally defeating the point of the thread, and I appologize Wreckless, but I always marvelled at how ballanced the cast was. The characters and their personalities all seemed to react and work well with all the others. And to finish, I will always argue that the show would have suffered severly without even just one of the characters. |

I wouldn't have minded an extra girl. Probably another glamour similar to Ginger and the kind of character Bunny looked like being. It may have made a nice balance. Three girls nattering around the cooking pot would have had the writers busy.
I guess the names would have had to fit into the "the movie star" syllables for the themes sake. |

I didn't really mind the two girls from the pilot, just the fact that they were both secretaries. I think Bunny would get annoying, but I thought the 'original' Ginger was interesting: smart, sarcastic-witty...
But as for replacing Tina Louise's Ginger, well that's a whole other thread. Also consider, however, that with three girls there might be more fights. Gossip, catfights, clashing personalities, ect. And maybe more competition over the men, less subtle I mean, than what we saw. |

I wonder if they ever considered keeping the Ginger character by using another actress (similar to Darrin in Bewitched).

Betty Grable. For those too young to know, she was kinda a prototype for them and for Marilyn Monroe AND Doeris Day, the top mpinup of World War II (Grable)..kinda like Courtney Thorne Smith, Sandra Bullock, etc.today. The SKIPPER would know, being a wartime captain.....! Good choice, Annball1957! But just WHAT would her name and occupaion (competetion with Ginger, evenetually sidiing in the first episode with Mary Ann, as it would turn out regaridng Bets?) Grable died in 1973, so we'll never know (like that old Tootsie roll pops thing). Hey, for females how about Eva Gabor sinc eher sis was a guest (the only female white to guerast, as Erika, she and Eva could be rivals, and Eva and her Green Acres werer on the same network CBS, unfortunately the same one prez Jim Aubrey deruralized for these in 1971 ).For males, Billy DeWolfe. In case you don't know who he was, he was with such 1940s and 1950s stars as Betty Hutton, Doris Day, and other beuaties and cuties and the Rankin Bass voice of the 1969 Frosty the Snowman prissy villian, Professor Hinkle..the guy who always said "Nasty nasty Nasty" etc. Or Richard Haydn, the nasal sounding English high pitched comic who was with Gilligan guest ("The Pigeon) and Disney veteran Sterling Holloway in Disney's }Alice in Wonderland", the guy who "Alvin and chipmunk"'s 1961 Clyde Crashcup was based on, the one parodied in the 1940s Bugs short as saying "Ex-act-iucaly" like Buddy Holly gone pedantic.) (Acutally, all of the above would be great costars..can ya imagine Eva Gabor as Erika Tiffan'ys Smith's sisterfollowing the E.T. episode with Zsa Zsa)... or Paul Lynde (only he was under contract to ABC)..he could be great cheimstry, or Gary owens, before Laughin (which followed Gilligan's cancallation, so no network con flict 'tween its the rival networks would exist as Gary Owens would have been a castaway on a show on CBS cancelled in 1967 prioir to the debut of Owens's Laugh In in 1968 on NBC) Can you imagine Gary Owens as a castaway, always announging a la his later NBC character, and the profressor, say (name)" can you please knock it off"..or show producer creator Sherwood Schwart'z later actor in "Its about time":--"You'll Never Get Rich" and "Car 54 where are you" comic Joe E.Ross...oh my gosdh..Ooh ooh Ooh..Skipper...(what about a future Brady Bunch member, for Schartz's shows..ANN BE DAVIS!! She'd be the SHIP's COOK....) |
