Thumbs up Tony Romo: Good Samaritan

http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/09/11/i...e-road-theres/

If Tony Romo Sees You Stranded on the Side of the Road, There's a Good Chance He Helps

Is there nothing Tony Romo can't do? Beat the Browns? Check. Woo Jessica Simpson from John Mayer after he had already dumped her? Check. Make Wade Phillips less goofy-seeming by comparison. HUGE CHECK.

And just when you thought Romo was the model of perfection, he goes and saves a couple from a burning automobile, somehow making him more perfect. Okay, slight exaggeration, but Romo, returning home after the Cowboys thoroughly waxed the Browns earlier in the day in Cleveland, pulled over to assist Bill and Sharon White, who were busily changing a car tire after suffering a blowout.
"I don't know, a hundred cars, probably more, had to go by. Nobody was stopping," said Bill. "That's just kind of the way it is in today's world."

And then ... "Bill was fooling with that tire, and I was standing beside the car watching him," Sharon said. "The next thing I know, a nice-looking young man, very well-dressed, but with something strange on his chin, he walked up, smiled, and said, 'Hey, you need some help?' "

Sharon hadn't even noticed a car pull up. So now it's Bill and the well-dressed young man both bent over a flat tire at midnight on a Sunday, trying to figure out why a faulty air compressor plugged into the cigarette lighter was leaking more than pumping.

Bill admitted to not getting a good look at the guy (probably didn't want to seem like he was staring at that thing on his face), but it didn't take Sharon long to figure out that she was in the presence of greatness (well, save that Seattle game from the '06 playoffs, anyhow):
"I didn't want to bother him," Sharon said, "but I asked again, 'You're Tony Romo, right?' " I knew it was him by then. But he smiled and said, 'Yes, ma'am.' " Sharon: "I did something no 50-year-old woman should be doing, but I screamed real loud, and then jumped up and hugged him."
Bill was more concerned with Romo not spilling the beans on how the Cowboys had fared earlier in the day; the Whites were headed home to watch the game on TiVo.

In all seriousness, this is an amazing story, and it says a lot about Romo the person. And although it's a relatively small gesture, it's something the Whites will certainly never forget -- and probably something most of us wouldn't have even thought about doing.
Look, we're driving a 10-year old car that is sitting in a parking lot with a flat tire in the dead of night. He could tell by that we're nothing special. But here's a young man making millions of dollars, and he's got all this fame and glory, and he does this?" The Whites couldn't thank Romo enough. "But if I ever had the opportunity, I'd also like to thank two other people. His mom and dad," Bill said. "They obviously raised him right. ..."
Well, except the part about finding the right girl. But otherwise, I couldn't agree more. And for all the mindless stories we see about "making it rain" and "puppy-murdering quarterbacks," it's refreshing to read that everybody in the NFL hasn't lost their mind.

Nobody of course lol. I'm not saying all of us are perfect and Tony isn't, I'm saying, a lot of people look at him like he's flawless. He's a talented, excellent QB with a nice looking (but dumb ) chick on his side lol, good for him but he does have flaws. Nevermind actually, I can see this turning into a fight...Romo did a good thing, that's all I'ma say.

What is it with you? I post a nice story, and you take a shot about it. You don't have to post in EVERY thread, and you don't have to PISS in so many threads. I'm getting fed up with it.

I agree Janice. He shouldn't have ruined your thread like that. He doesn't have to trash Romo on every single thread on the boards.

I've never been a Dallas fan but you have to give Romo credit, he's a class act and he always seems like he's having so much fun out there on the football field. I enjoyed that story. Kudos to Tony.

I can't trash Romo yet somebody else can post endless amounts of crap about Philadelphia, the Eagles specifically, even before I started talking about Romo on here. I don't have a problem with the guy, a couple of times I made jokes about it and everybody thought I was serious (not this thread). The only problem I have is the jersey he wears- the team he plays for basically.

And I didn't even say anything that bad- I said he has flaws and that he's not perfect. Trashing him would first be calling him a bad quarterback, which I did not say and it wouldn't be true. I think Romo is a nice guy I guess. He's a talented quarterback. Dallas fans want me to praise the guy for everything he does like I'm a Dallas fan. I've seen many fans call the guy bad words, bad mouth him worst then saying he has flaws and get on him- even Dallas fans after not winning the last 2 years. That's all.

I don't care if you like Romo or not. I don't care for McNabb either but I don't post in endless threads about him. If it's gameday and their's a thread of course I do but you've even posted in threads that had nothing to do with the Cowboys to down him. And this thread was a nice thread talking about something good he did. I know if it was McNabb who did it ,I would give him props. I guess that's just how I am. If I couldn't do it then I wouldn't have post in it. and Solomon might not like the Eagles but I have heard him say that McNabb is one of the best qbs in the league so even he gives McNabb credit.

Not to change subjects but I doubt that he would say that, he bad mouthes the Eagles and Philly as much as he can. So to me, if people are going to constantly take shots at the Eagles and even the city, I see no wrong in just saying Romo has flaws. What is so bad about that? And a lot of people post in the sports section. I'm not trying to start an argument, I didn't think saying the guy has flaws was bad. It's not even a criticism.

Same to you- I'm lining up and getting ready to post all the threads either in the title or in the first post you start by bad mouthing the Eagles, philly sports or philadelphia as a whole. I never have talked bad about Dallas nor Dallas sports besides the Cowboys, because they're our rival obviously. You HAVE done that, except with Philly etc. Here are some:
