Default Any Western Civ. People In Here?

Ok so I am taking Western Civ. at my comm. college this semester, really nice, good professor, interesting class. We have a quiz tomorrow afternoon, and he said he will give us a sample sheet of questions for each quiz, to look over. I found every question except for 2- and I studied the chapter and took notes. Can somebody help me with these two questions? They're multiple choice, I can probably take a guess but if these 2 were to come up on the quiz tomorrow, I wanna do as best as I can...Ok here's the 2

1. To the peoples of the ancient world, the characteristic manifestations of civilization- government, literature, science, and art- were necessarily products of:

A. Rural Life
B. City Life
C. Religious Life
D. The Ice Age

2. Irrigation rights and arable land were important to the Sumerian's because:

A. They depended on sales of these rights for income
B. They believed that at death, human beings returned to water and soil.
C. Their hostile neighbors refused to trade essential commodities.
D. These resources were essential for survivial in the desert of southern Iraq.

I know their are a lot of smart people in here and older wise people- so I thought I'd ask..Anybody? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I took Western Civilization in college but that was back in 2004. Sorry - I don't remember, and I don't think I have my notes anymore. LOL!

However, Mike (Crazy For Blair) is currently taking Western Civilization at his college too. Not sure how far he's gotten in his class, though...

I took it last year, but I don't know any of those for certain. I'd say for the first question it's between either B or C...but for the second, I have no idea.

I wish I could help you, but I dont know enough about Western Civ. Like to though, and am starting to dig more into the subject. If it were U.S. history I would probably a lot more help since thats one of my specialties and my major.
