Naturally, my aunt has had a hard time since my cousin Jamie, her only child, was killed in Iraq in April 2007. Well, the 28th of August would've been Jamie's 22nd birthday, so my aunt decided to go through his stuff and see what she wanted to get rid of and what she wanted to keep. Big mistake, she found out the hard way that she just isn't ready to do that yet. Ever since that day she hardly speaks to anyone, she's become so withdrawn and that's just not like her. She's not eating like she should either. I'm really worried about her, please keep her in your prayers!

My prayers are with her. Is there any way she could get in touch with a group or someone who has gone through this?

Lauren, your aunt is in my prayers. I saw, up close and personal, the pain of parents losing a child, when my sister died in 1991. My mother was never the same again. It's the ultimate loss, and everyone grieves in their own way. I pray your aunt has the strength to make it through this devastating loss and to rejoin the world. Just be there for her, and don't be afraid to mention your cousin's name. Recall stories of his goodness and the good times you had with him, how you miss him. People often avoid that. They mean well, but most people want to hear their lost loved one's names.
